Online food delivery sent me extra food....

Should I tell them?
What do they do with it?
If they just bin it, should I keep it and food bank it?

I’ve checked my order and I have everything I ordered so no replacements.
Not been charged for extra either.
Extras are: cereals, bread, tinned toms and sauces (tomato, Worcester and brown)

Just left it bagged up on side in kitchen.
What would you do??

I had it in the summer which I discovered when he went back to get another box for the van
Bag of ice lollies and chic iced and another bag of frozen croissants and pastries, bloke just said keep them you’ve won today

Tickledtrout · 15/01/2021 07:54

They won't charge you or take it back. Their customer service will probably take s week to reply anyway. Use it or food bank anything you won't use.

Clymene · 15/01/2021 07:55

Tell them because it will be part of someone else's order. They won't want it back though so you can food bank the non perishables.

actiongirl1978 · 15/01/2021 07:56

Someone last week will have had my ready to bake croissants, peas and waffles as that's the bag that was missing!

Also if any mnetter ordered a box of derma cream from superdrug? It came labelled with my name and address last week. Presumably the person who made the order has my 3 types of nail varnish and hair oil Grin

actiongirl1978 · 15/01/2021 07:57

I should add, I did tell superdrug, they resent my correct order but didn't want the wrong one back.

LubaLuca · 15/01/2021 07:57

They wouldn't be able to pass food items to anyone else, and they're very unlikely to bother coming back for it, but let customer services know so they can account for every item the driver had in his van.

If you can't use the items, give them away.

sm40 · 15/01/2021 07:58

Call them to make yourself feel better but you'll get to keep it.

Palavah · 15/01/2021 08:00

I got a pepper and some onions for the same reason yesterday. You can give food away on the olio app if you can't get ti a food bank drop-off

Wellthisismorethanabitgrim · 15/01/2021 08:02

I got randomly refunded £2.70 this week for items I apparently refused, but didn't. Weird but for that amount I wasn't about to spend my time calling customer services to try and sort it out!

schmockdown · 15/01/2021 08:07

Sainsbury's driver came back to collect three extra bags he left with us, he realised when he got to the next drop.

Ocado once delivered me three bottles of wine, a massive pack of nappies and loads of crisps I didn't order. I called them and they told me to keep it.

HeidiHoNeighbour · 15/01/2021 08:17

Thanks all. I’ll call them at nine.
I only ordered last night so thought I’d ordered with “tired head”

Yes please tell them. I didn’t get a bag of milk/butter etc in my Sainsbos order before Christmas. I called and was told that they weren’t on the van and had to jump through many hoops (and hours) to get a refund. Was made to feel like they thought I had stolen £15 of fridge stuff. Most of my order was Christmas booze, which as more expensive, nicer, and with a longer shelf life would be the obvious choice to double up an order of but they weren’t having it.

HeidiHoNeighbour · 15/01/2021 08:26

Feel I should add that order was from Iceland.
I was surprised they did next day delivery however think that 6-8am is not popular!

I had that this week. I had a cucumber I hadn’t ordered. I did say to the deliverer at the time and he said not to worry he wouldn’t charge me for it.

onyourway · 15/01/2021 08:32

I got a box of rock salt last week as my 'extra' Smile So random.

I pointed it out to the driver and he told me to keep it.

motherofawhirlwind · 15/01/2021 08:44

OH took the order in once and it was only when putting it in the fridge he started asking "why have we got this?" and "ohhh, fancy pizzas!" We had 6 bags of someone else's food, and 80% of my shop was missing. Asda refunded the entire thing and said to keep it all. Sorry to whoever got my vegan muck and cheap pizzas!

I also had a click and collect free once. Collected it and then 2 days later it was refunded. Called to tell them and they said it must not have been ticked off as collected properly and not to worry.

wowfudge · 15/01/2021 08:51

I received someone else's Nespresso order this week. And my own. Both deliveries had only my name, address and order number on them. Someone's missing their caffeine hit and I was told to keep or recycle the capsules when I rang them.

Valkadin · 15/01/2021 16:21

I can’t remember which company it was but I ordered a steel standard lamp with an adjustable arm They sent two by accident, it wasn’t me who signed the order. I rang them and they said keep it

BarbaraofSeville · 15/01/2021 16:34

Must be the season for it. We've just got our pod coffee parcel (Lavazza, not Nespresso) and there was 16 boxes instead of 10 and the selection was slightly different. The paperwork is correct though as were my emails about it.

DP was putting it away and he commented about there being too many to go in the drawer they live in, whereas normally they fit in nicely.

I have a big gin order coming next week (some excellent offers at The Drop Store) so hopefully they'll slip in some extras too.

HeidiHoNeighbour · 15/01/2021 16:50

Amusing update:

Phoned them and got told to bag the extras by the door and they’d send someone to collect.
They phoned me back 10 minutes later and said “we haven’t got the staff, please keep products with our apologies”

There is a local group that collect food for local families who are struggling, contacted them on fb and all was collected within 20 minutes.

Felt like I’d done a massive charitable donation - then realised I hadn’t paid for it so not that charitable!

Ah well, thought that counts!

I got an extra bag once and the supermarket told me to keep it because they didn't have the time to collect it. I felt so bad though - it was a bag entirely full of extra-heavy-duty sanitary products and massive bars of chocolate, so someone will have been really pissed off to find it all missing :(
