Is there any research on productivity working in the office verses at home?

Just that really.

I love working from home, I’ve never been particularly good working from an office and I’ve worked from home before the lockdown.

I really can’t imagine working from an office again. I don’t mind doing a couple of days a week to ‘keep in touch’ but I get so much more work done at home. I honestly feel like I do more in a morning at home than I do all day in an office. So much wasted time commuting, making myself look presentable, colleagues being distracting etc.

Surely it should become optional?

I feel the complete opposite!

Well, perhaps not complete - as if I’ve got a specific piece of work to concentrate on I’m happy at home - but the majority of my work is meetings / collaborating / supporting others and my creativity and productivity has really suffered being stuck at home.

I can’t wait to get back to an office.

It's different for different people surely? DH has been full time WAH for years and it suits him. It doesn't suit me - I hate being stuck in the same 4 walls, having access to a full fridge and cupboard all day and having nobody to chat to. I'm more productive in the office. Being easily distracted all day means I end up working much later into the evening and never feel like I switch off. I'm also getting fat! DH on the other hand is very productive at home with no background noise etc. So it varies for different people with different work styles.
