Little preferences

I cut my finger a little today and went to the cupboard for a plaster. Whilst putting one on I realised I always exclusively buy the fabric kind as I find them more satisfying to put on. They stretch pleasingly around my finger and stay put all day unlike the horrid, smooth, supposedly waterproof kind.

What little preferences do you have in life?

I like to have a mug exclusively for me at work and at home. And one type of coffee too.

Ihatesandwiches · 14/01/2021 16:50

I agree with you!

I don't like drinking the last inch of the milk carton. I wil open a new carton for my cup of coffee and use the end of the old one for other family members.

DelphiniumBlue · 14/01/2021 16:53

Different cups for different drinks. My proper coffee cup is different to my Nescafe one, which is a different shape and weight to my tea mug. My mint tea mug is different again, depending on the time of day.
The wrong shape mug really ruins my drink!

Santaiscovidfree · 14/01/2021 16:53

Specific tea /coffee cup...
Matching hat /scarf - at least same colour.
A nicely presented meal - in serving dishes not plonked on a plate.

Livedandlearned · 14/01/2021 17:04

I like my mugs to suit the drink as well. Chunky mug for coffee and a Kew Gardens fine bone china one for tea and herbal tea.

I want a massive mug for coffee but I can't decide on one

For me that last inch is to be swigged straight from the bottle before opening a new one Grin

Also milk must be absolutely ice cold.

Underwear must be the same colour (not necessarily a matching set, but defo same colour). I have a set of glasses I like to drink out of - despite many glasses, only certain ones will do! Defo certain mugs too.

Lockdownshmockdown · 14/01/2021 17:17

Everyone agrees about specific mugs Grin

I'm the same with water. Best cold and drunk from a metal tumbler.

On the theme of drinks, I much prefer flat Coke/ pepsi to when it's first opened.

Argh no!

They must be drunk fizzy. A few sips and then flung in the bin because the fizz is gone. This is why I love the tiny little cans you can buy for mixers. Perfect portion.

Chocolate digestives must live in the freezer.
I have a specific wine glass that nobody else is allowed to use.

SoupDragon · 14/01/2021 18:21

I have two specific mugs for my first coffee of the day. They are the same but in opposite colour ways and are exactly the right size - slightly bigger than a normal mug but not as big as the Big Mugs.

My day is all wrong if one is not available due to lax dishwashing.

Sparklingbrook · 14/01/2021 19:08

I agree that the right mug is essential for hot beverages.

DS1 used one to make a cup of tea in once.

He only did it once.

waitingforadulthood · 14/01/2021 19:15

I like to get up only on multiples of 5. If I wake at 8.03am I wait until 8.05 to get out of bed.

ImNotShpanishImEgyptshun · 14/01/2021 19:21

Everyone has a favourite hob 😊

I have different mugs for different times of day, a mug for earl grey and a Sunday morning mug. I only drink tea.

Cutlery should not have a plastic handle, just clear clean metal.

MsAwesomeDragon · 14/01/2021 19:26

I like my front, right hob ring. It is better than the other 3. I don't know why, it just is.
I like the front left hob ring. Rarely use the back ones. Front right at a pinch.

FawnDrench · 14/01/2021 19:31

I have a preference for which hot water bottle I use, and a very specific way of putting it on my pillow.
I have it "slanting" at 45 degrees, covering both the bottom of the pillow and the top of the base sheet, longways on, with the stopper at the top.

OMG my eldest does this and it's so annoying!!! 😠

Fabric plasters are the best! But I'm allergic to them :( Fine with normal plasters but can't use fabric or the completely clear ones.

Yes! What is that about? This is also my preferred hob ring and I genuinely feel a sad little reluctant tug when I have to use the others at the same time.

Similarly I feel particular about pillows. I have such an overwhelming preference for one pillow that it is now 15 years old. This is apparently the worst thing you can do for sleep hygiene but I'm starting to think I'll take that pillow to the grave with me. I genuinely get a wee panic on when I stay over somewhere and can't bring my pillow with me Shock
