I just want to write snow in Spanish ... is it just Nieve nothing before?

Yes.

Hay nieve - there is snow.
Todo estaba cubierto de nieve - everything was covered in snow.

The verb "to snow" is nevar.

Está nevando - it is snowing.
Hace mucho frio y nieve - it is very cold and it is snowing.
