What is wrong with my echo dot?

3rd gen no clock bought Black Friday 2019

Mostly used as a speaker for watching streamed content on fire tablet, closely followed by playing radio, but also have found the voice command stuff useful too though haven't made the most of this I don't think

It's sounding tinny/vibrating loads/buzzing which is REALLY annoying.

And of course this is happening just a few months after the replacement period ended yet another case of planned obsolescence I think Angry

Anything I can do to fix?

I'm a which? Member now, wasn't at time of purchase and really disappointed to see it's a "don't buy" mainly due to sound quality - which I have to say until now I've found to be ok

It's still ok when it's only speech it's whenever there's music even just background music and I've even noticed it's only certain content where it's an issue which suggests to me it's not necessarily the hardware so what the hell is it?!

Which? Recommendations for smart speakers are well into £100's which I cannot afford

So if I do replace what would be best? Something smallish with voice command capability and compatible with fire tablet preferably.

I've already turned down treble and bass in settings hasn't made much if any difference

Apologies if I’ve got this wrong, but it sounds like you’re really just using it as a Bluetooth speaker?

There’s plenty of cheap Bluetooth speakers available as a replacement.
