I'm trying to decide on ec durinell or beekse bergen, I'm not wild about Europe camp, their standards have fallen but I don't have much choice except not to book it at all...

Any experience?

We have holidayed at Duinrell twice, but a while ago now. First time with EC, second time we rented a duingalow from the site. EC accommodation was much better than the Duingalow (which was dated, smelled of stale smoke and had a spider infestation). As I said, this was years ago so maybe not relevant now. We loved it there. Staying on site gave us 2 hours free access to the water park every day, and we did loads of cycling (slow incline all the way to the beach but great freewheeling all the way back). Loads of interesting places to visit within daytrip distance too.

We booked direct in a duingalow, not as good as the european centerparcs but really good value. We got free access to the pool 2 hours a day but also unlimited access to the theme park

CountessFrog · 14/01/2021 09:05

We stayed there with EC about four years ago and it was absolutely dire, sorry.

We stayed with euro camp before and the accommodation was fine. By no means luxury but the kids had a ball. Going in September (hopefully) and staying in a premium plus duingallow booked with duinrell. Check them out, they look fab.

LickEmbysmiling · 14/01/2021 09:37

Ho, I would like prefer booking direct but they don't have that available.

I love Eurocamp at Dunreill. Yes, the basic accommodation is ... Basic, but I love that, completely low maintenance, I love the kitchens - so little work surface to wipe etc. Wipe clean furniture. I got sick of Centreparcs as I always spent half the holiday tidying and cleaning those bloody granite worktops. We always make sure we have an extra bedroom at Eurocamp, so we have somewhere to put suitcases, walking gear etc. And take own bedding as their duvets are grim.

Dunreill is really well located for lots of lovely places to visit. Wassenar is lovely, the centre is easily walkable from the site.

We usually split the holiday with a couple of days city break in a nice hotel in Amsterdam.

SusannaSpider · 14/01/2021 09:54

Oh and we book with Eurocamp, partly because they always seem to get a cheaper deal on the ferry tickets, than we do when booking separately.

LickEmbysmiling · 14/01/2021 10:27

Susana I have never stayed anywhere with granite work tops Grin so I wont miss that, I just want basic cleanliness and someone to remedy any issues that cares.

Duinrell customer service are shocking (tried to break their own terms and conditions by not refunding when my holiday was cancelled due to Covid) - not responding to emails or messages - had to get a charge back through credit card in the end.

People who booked through Eurocamp seemed to get refunds or rebooking sorted much more easily. So I would advise against booking direct.

I think Canvas go there too.

We stayed in one of Duinrell's own 'duingalows' and it was perfect for us - clean, simply furnished, no spiders, nothing fancy. The amusement park, pool, and staff were fantastic. As others have said, the local town Wassenaar was lovely, and there are buses to the Hague and Leiden, and onward trains to Amsterdam. Everyone spoke perfect English.

We have stayed at Duinrell three times in the last 8 years, each time with Al Fresco and no problems. Moved last years booking to June this year so hoping to make it this time around, all going well. Got an email last week from Al Fresco to say they have done some kind of merger with EC and our balance to be paid has reduced slightly as we aren't guaranteed now to get the outdoor lounge furniture but not fussed on that tbh. Duinrell itself is fantastic, we are also doing an extra night at Efteling this year (fingers crossed!)

LickEmbysmiling · 14/01/2021 11:25

@LickEmbysmiling

Efteling is where we are staying first - its utterly sensational theme park, magical and beautiful, its one of my favorite places on earth.

I will check out al fresco then.

And canvas.

I have a soft spot for Eftling. It was where DH and I first started getting to know each other. He asked me out when we got back. That was 33 years ago. Been back 2 or 3 times since

LickEmbysmiling · 14/01/2021 11:55

Bruffin I am crazy about it - I utterly adore it and its adult friendly too I would enjoy it without DC.

The theme park at Duinrell is charming as well @LickEmbysmiling but a lot smaller.
Its so nice that you go in at anytime and dont feel you have to stay and do everything in one go.
