Lactating 12 months after stopping breastfeeding

I just noticed I'm lactating (sorry for the TMI). Is this a reason to be concerned?

From personal experience, it can be normal for it not to go away completely after stopping breast feeding. Sage tea and peppermint tea can help (not together though, bleurgh). But if you have suddenly started lactating, or it was more than a tiny amount, that would concern me. I am not a doctor though, so I dont want me saying "yeah its fine, it was fine for me" to put you off seeking medical advice if you think you need it.

Thank you! It was tiny, but definitely easier to "milk" than when the colostrum started coming in 16 months ago.

I'm just rather surprised that it came out of nowhere.

Did you hand express it, or are you leaking?
Leaking spontaneously can indicate high prolactin levels, sometimes due to medications, and should be checked out as it can increase risks of cancer etc.
If you hand expressed and got a bit then don't fret, it can take some people inordinate amounts of time to stop producing milk. I discovered I can when I was reading about the medics doing trials with vaccines and breast milk and figured I'd be a good candidate as I'm not bf now... got a wet face in return for my curiosity.

I stopped feeding dd1 when she was 16 months and had milk until I had dd2 22 months later. It’s perfectly normal for some.

I leaked a tiny bit and then expressed to make sure I was not imagining things. This didn't happen when I had ny DD 10 years ago.
