Which is the best handheld vacuum ?

I am thinking of buying one to keep on top of the cleaning mire easily . My Miele vacuum is wonderful but it is heavy to do the stairs with so I put it off .
Which handheld one do you recommend ? Is it worthwhile getting one ?

We have had a Dyson v. 6 (I think) for about four years now. It has been great but is starting to lose suction now. I much prefer it over a wired hoover especially for small spills. It does need empty quite a bit if you do the whole house/haven't hoovered for a while. We also have a Henry style hoover for lots of mud/DIY mess.

I am considering a Dyson v. 11 now as they get good reviews and seem to be much better than the v. 6/7 level model. But they are also much more expensive!

I have heard mixed things about the Dyson ones .

I want one for stairs / car / quick whizz around not hefty cleaning .

Well that is pretty much what our Dyson gets used for and its been fine. But I haven't tried any other brand!

Any other recommendations ?

I don’t think my budget will stretch to the new Dyson

I have a Vax Gator. It's fairly heavy but great for pet hair on sofas & rugs. Think it was about £50.

Any other advice ?
