Hi ladies!

I need some advise. I am over joyed to have got my first ever BFP today. I've been ttc for almost a year now. Anyhoo... today would be the day I'm expecting AF. I've got really bad period cramps and im so nervous.... is this normal or am I about to have an early loss???? Praying for some reassurance.

I’m on the same boat OP, a lovely strong BFP on Monday which I was overjoyed about after a miscarriage back in august. I’ve had cramps, twinges, sharp pains in my ovaries, and a general ache in the whole area. It’s so worrying isn’t it. But apparently, it is completely normal and down to a big surge of progesterone and your uterus stretching around already🙏🏻 Doesn't stop my anxiety completely but from what I’ve read it’s not something to worry about.

Hopefully someone comes along with some more reassurance for us soon!!

Yes its such a worry! I'm definitely an anxious person anyways about this sort of thing and im not surprised you are extra nervous seeing as you had a miscarriage... So sorry to hear that! Let's pray everything goes smoothly this time around for you!!! I too had lots of sharp twinges and have also been having awful palpitations on and off all day, every day since around 5/6dpo. If my anxiety stays at this level... its going to be a very long 9 months. I'm sure it'll settle down. I'll probably book myself an early scan around 7/8 weeks to check all is ok and to calm myself.

I have 4 dc. The only first trimester symptom I ever had was period type cramping/ twinges for 1-4 weeks. The first 2 pregnancies I delayed testing as I was sure my period was about to start but, no, it’s a common pregnancy symptom!
Congratulations!

I had this with DC1, I didn't test until 3 days late because I was so convinced my period was starting to the point where I kept visiting the toilet to check until I was 3 days late when I thought maybe I should test. I was told the same as PP that it is everything stretching around. Congratulations!

Thanks OP! Yes it’s a super anxious time and has probably sucked some of the joy out experiencing a pregnancy when you’ve gone through something horrible the first time, but I’m taking it day by day and really hoping I can start to feel calmer about it over the next few weeks. Like you I’ll probably book in with a private scan at 8/9 weeks (which still feels like forever away!) for reassurance and also so DH can see because they still won’t let partners into scans in my local trust.

It can definitely be very normal. I definitely had cramps with all of mine.

As my user name suggests I have 6 children, my last one I was around 4 months when I found out as I kept putting off testing as I was sure I was about to have my period due to all the pains I was getting.

I had loads of cramps and twinges in the first weeks. There’s a lot going on down there.

Scaredykittycat · 13/01/2021 12:39

I had the worst cramps of my life when I was pregnant. Like I was sick with the pain. It would wake me up. They settled at about 7/8 weeks.
