Any idea how to remove the plastic bits from these earring backs?

I was sure they used to just pop off but these seem to be stuck tight & I've broken a nail trying to pry one off

Any ideas?

Yes they should just pop off? Dont know why they would be stuck... what a nuisance.

I thought so! I'll try again.

Slide a blunt knife (butter knife etc.) behind the backs and try and lever them off ( away from you - they may shoot off suddenly at speed!) Good luck.

I thought they were meant to stay on - if they are heavier studs for example so they dont drag dwon the front of your earlobe..... have i been doing earrings wrong all these years?!

There's two backs there, a little silicone ring one which should just pull off. Then a bigger metal one with a plastic surrounding which may be in need a bit of a firmer pull to get off, while holding the front of the earring.

I've done it! They took a very firm push though some of them!

Happycow you now have me wondering whether I should have left them. I've always taken them off.

I'll have a google.

Honestly I usually bite them

The plastic is supposed to be removed. It’s only there to keep the back in place on the shop floor and to show that the earrings haven’t been used
