Weight Gain

I am 8 months postpartum and breastfed until baby was 3 months. I got put on cerazette pill 6 weeks postpartum and seemed to gradually start to gain weight. Once I stopped breastfeeding this got even worse!

Since starting this pill, I have gained just under 2 stone despite eating healthy. I don't know whether this is due to the pill or not - but wondered if anybody had experienced anything similar.

I am at the point now where my weight is unhealthy - I try to get out for a walk everyday with my daughter but due to the cold weather can't be out for too long and I am not very good at home workouts - I don't have the motivation.

I am thinking about finishing this month's pill and taking a break to allow my body to have a period (I have had a lot of period-like pains but no actual period) and to see if I notice any significant change in my weight. Other than trying this has anybody got any advice?

@LittleOverwhelmed

I have stopped drinking any fizzy drinks and juice - I buy bottles of sparkling water and tend to stick to drinking that with an occasional coffee in the morning.

All dinners are homemade following slimming world recipes (I am not following slimming world, I just use their online recipes for dinners) and breakfast I normally have fruit and fibre cereal.

Lunch varies but it is usually just leftovers from dinner the night before - I try to snack on fruit throughout the day if I get hungry.

I agree with keeping a food diary. Do it for at least a week, but weigh and measure everything you eat and drink and be accurate.

Then at the end of the week go through and write the calories in them and tot them up for each day.

Or you could just use My Fitness Pal for the diary though you'll probably find it takes a bit of time to get used to it.

I couldn't lose weight when I was in the mini pill, the contraceptive injection or the mirena coil despite logging everything on MyFitnessPal and eating very healthily and in what should have been a decent calorie deficit! I stopped taking hormonal contraception and the weight started falling off and I felt much better too.

Strangely Cerazette was the only one I was OK on, but I had to stop taking it because the doctor said I was too old! Grin
