How do I remove hot glue from velvet?

Brand new top, ruined. Well, I'll wear it anyway, but if you know of a method I can try to remove some hot glue from a velvet top, I'd be most grateful!

I would suggest warming to remove as much as possible, then scraping off what you can, then some kind of solvent. I have sticky stuff remover

WD40?
Warm it and pick it off.
Conversely freeze it and pick it off.
If it's not in too obvious a place you could snip it off? Like a long-pile carpet
