Australian old age pension: Payable in the UK?

Have I missed something?

Is it true that if a Brit emigrates to Aus, they carry on getting their old age pension (although fixed at the sum on their date of departure); (but if they emigrated at 66.5, would they still get it?).

But, if an Australian emigrates to the UK, they lose access to the Australian old age pension?

Is that true?

I have an Australian client who lives in the U.K. and gets her Australian pension, yes.

My grandma left the uk for aus in her 40s and continued to get her UK pension until she passed away - it was a tiny amount though as frozen

Yes, namechange34, it certainly works one way, but- the other?

@Miljea, as I said, I have an Australian client living in the U.K. who gets her Australian pension. So it can't be true that they don't (I can't imagine they don't know she's here!).

Please note: to lodge an Australian Age Pension claim you must be residing in Australia

She's slipped through a gap.

Unless you can continue claiming if you claimed once while in Australia?

I have no skin in the game, I just know that she's getting her Australian pension over here.

I'm not going to ask her if she's defrauding the Australian government! 😂

This article explains it better.
