Pity party warning, I have had enough. Week 1 of home schooling two kids, one primary one secondary. Both dh and I key workers. Employers being incredibly supportive which makes me feel more guilty as I am simply failing at everything.
It's Saturday evening and normally would spend it with a glass of wine, nice food, and a family night. The reality now is a cup of tea whilst we argue about who has done what and the kids chomping at the bit for socialisation.

Why can't you have wine at your pity party? A pity party is much better with wine.

One glass will turn into a bottle, in this mood I have zero self control so tea it is

Stop being horrible to yourself immediately! What we are being asked to do is not possible! Even if you’ve done a little bit - medal for you! And yes you are entitled to a medal a week. Get a blackboard and draw a big yellow star on it. You’ve earned it. Draw another in a weeks time.

You’re a key worker, homeschool is so hard to juggle with work, the expectation is unprecedented, let yourself off that big, jagged, unwarranted hook!

What is interesting is how quickly and easily Mums have absorbed the guilt about this into the guilt that was already there - we knew exactly where to put this feeling of being overwhelmed with impossible tasks - into the ‘It’s All My Fault And I’m Failing’ section of our psyches. We as a nation of mothers need to push back against that. (Yes I know fathers are affected too but it seems to be mostly the Mum’s doing the juggling of homeschool and everything else).

Thankyou for the lovely replies Smile
I'm not a teacher, but I am eternally grateful to all the teachers helping my kids!

Well I think we are all struggling. Not in a down-the-trenches type way but because we've literally got too much on our plates. Can we give you some ideas to help? What's your biggest daily hurdle?
