Books similar to The x Storey Tree House Books for 6 Year Old?

Hoping for some Mumsnet recommendations please!

My 6 year old has only just got into 'bigger' books and we've worked our way through all of the Tree House books at bedtime over the last few months. He is quite a young 6 year old and a bit sensitive. They were a good option to get off big text, single story books as they have black and white line drawings so a great next step up.

I'm really stuck for what to go for next! His older brother was into David Walliams novels by this age but they would be far too grown up as they deal with some more upsetting themes. Reverting to younger books doesn't seem right either as it was great to get him into some books that lasted more than one bedtime story!

We've tried 'Just Kidding' by the same authors as the Tree House books but they just don't seem very good at all, I struggled to find them even mildly interesting, as did he.

Any recommendations/suggestions gratefully received Smile

My 6yo huge treehouse fan also enjoys Stinkbomb & Ketchup Face, Roald Dahl, Kid Normal, Dirty Bertie (I hate but he enjoys reading them himself), Chris Riddell’s books for younger children (Fergus Crane is one, I can’t remember the others!), Magic Faraway Tree, Jill Tomlinson animal books, Stitch Head, Pamela Butchart, Tom Fletcher

My slightly sensitive son of the same age liked The Magic Faraway Tree and has enjoyed several Roald Dahl stories. I’ve just bought a set of Mr Penguin books by Alex T Smith, which I’m hopeful about but can’t recommend yet! Recently, we have also read one of Jonny Duddle’s pirate-themed books, a set of RSPCA animal rescue stories and one of the Oliver Moon stories, all of which he liked.

Tom Fletcher books are good and have a jokey style. My dc also really enjoyed both Dognam and The Bad Guys which are comic style books.

Aliens stink is a fair sized book but makes me giggle just thinking about it!

Great, thanks so much everyone. I'm going to google abc get a few of these.

I've enjoyed getting off of big picture books that last one night so hopefully we will find something to capture his interest!

The Mr Penguin books are great, very funny too. The Mr Dog series by Ben Fogle May go down well and what about The Boy who Grew Dragons series?
