The saga continues to continue with more sequels than a trilogy of trilogies...

@Weedsneeds1 Yes, she's not a big eater at the best of times, so this is good.

Lifeinaonesie · 16/01/2021 19:22

Struggling here. Dh doesn't really mind staying in all the time and doing no exercise. I find if I don't go out even in pouring rain I feel very low and I've noticed the kids, who didn't get out today, have been emotionally all over the place. But it's very hard taking both out without DH as my youngest just runs away all the time or falls into mud face first etc. Decided I'll have to start driving them to paved parks or something to get them out every day.

Taswama · 16/01/2021 19:44

Couldn't resist the daily mail link - who plays rugby in a shirt? And of course he's not wearing a mask- he's OUTSIDE!!!

TabbyStar · 16/01/2021 19:46

I'm not sure what Matt Hancock is supposed to have done that's wrong! He didn't really look very adequately dressed though.

Mrsfrumble · 16/01/2021 19:58

I’d say getting a bit muddy while playing rugby with his kids in the park is the only likeable thing Matt Hancock has ever done...

We walked 16km today. It felt good after being cooped up all week.

TooManyPlatesInMotion · 16/01/2021 20:00

Bizarre that the DM pointed out the fact that he wasn't wearing a mask - outdoors where he isn't required to wear one. Pictured looking a bit muddy in a park, presumably much like the rest of the nation. Nothing whatsoever to wrong with that. Confused

I agree. Though I wondered to DH if he were like Competitive Dad from The Fast Show
Taswama · 16/01/2021 20:28

Sounds like you need to tell your DH to come out with you and the DC @Lifeinaonesie .
I think kids (everyone really) need fresh air daily or at least every other day. DP had a couple of days off without me over the summer and I was furious when he did DIY and didn't take the kids out at all. 1. I didn't get the house to myself at all and 2. I had to take the kids out the following day when I was working.

BogRollBOGOF · 16/01/2021 20:52

"Come on Toby!" Grin
It might be Wanksock, but mask-lessly playing with the kids in a public place is a good thing and not something I can bitch about.
wonders which sucker is home schooling the kids or if Health Secretary is a critical worker who gets children in to school and not guilt tripped over it...

I've had a better day.
5+ miles of muddy running.
Pokemon walking with the family.
5 mile walk with a friend.

That's about a half marathon of distance! No wonder my legs are tired.
But I feel like I've lived today rather than just existed.

He does, but I feel like matron bullying everyone outside which is a bit exhausting and it can take ages to get everyone out with proper attire and then he'll complain that we don't have to keep to my schedule. Fair enough, no we don't but the days are so short and he forgets the kids will go crazy if we go out too close to lunch (and I'm not taking a picnic as it's so muddy everywhere)
BogRollBOGOF · 16/01/2021 21:15

I've been sloppy on getting the children out in recent weeks. I managed for about 9 months, but it's back to the muddy walks problem. Today was pokemoning in town, but even that's wearing thin.

DS1 ends up moaning about his knees. We've been through online physio this year, but he won't do the exercises, and if he's not in the mood for a walk, he mades his displeasure known very loudly. It's best to just plough on and let him vent it off and if I had a more sensitive disposition, it would be quite embarrasing walking off with a howling 10 yo while he gets it out of his system in the first mile. Social distancing is not an issue for him! He does scoot, but only on one side, so that gets tiring. Hates bikes. No interest in ball games. So yeah, weather, daylight, no fresh inspiration and variety, and we're just out of steam completely. In the big picture, we'll get back to real karate, swimming, parkruns and just normal stuff like scuttling to school in the nick of time. We just need to survive the next month or two with some sanity in tact, and easier days will come.

I'm feeling sloppy enough about keeping myself active let alone battling the DCs.

I can hear music, only faintly, not a problem, coming from what I think is a flat on the floor below. I'm so pleased if someone is having a party....

The temptation to go looking for it is overwhelming but if I find it and knock on the door, they'll be terrified.

And why wasn't I invited?😂

ISaySteadyOn · 16/01/2021 21:40

I am sloppy too. And they really need it.
Must do better. Even if wet. Still, DS hatching a Pokemon egg and we can't do that without walking. It's still a novelty for us.

ISaySteadyOn · 16/01/2021 21:41

I don't know @AcornAutumn. If I were having a party, I would invite you. But I would warn you that our music tastes are very old fashioned. Our idea of decent party music is Django Reinhardt.

I had to google but I recognise a lot, it's lovely!

I just wanna go to a party!!

Do any of you sensible ADs have an opinion on primaries going back? 'over there' posters are screaming September but, and forgive me because I've opted out of all news for a while, surely if we are in lockdown and we don't buy the 'you naughty people are all out having raves' line and in fact most people are severely reducing their contact with others, and we are only 1 and a half weeks into it, then surly by the time it's half term AND with vaccinations going on, we can send them back? I can't work out why people are so sure it's going to be Easter/September. Am I just being naive and too hopeful?

Iheartmysmart · 16/01/2021 22:37

My downstairs neighbour has a juke box! It was great in the summer when we were allowed out. He’d put some 50s and 60s music on and we’d sit outside on the grass having a few drinks.

The economy has to get going before September and it can't until schools go back. So, no, one way or another, kids have to be back in school soon. Hopefully by half term
Taswama · 16/01/2021 22:53

I really don't see how it could be as late as September. We are vaccinating at a rate of 2m per week so the most vulnerable people should be done by mid Feb? Not sure exactly when Easter falls but hope the schools can go back sometime between Feb half term and Easter.

Curlygirl06 · 16/01/2021 23:01

Thankfully we don't have music playing as well, not allowed.

Iheartmysmart · 16/01/2021 23:05

Am I right in thinking Boris was reluctant to shut the schools when he did and was pressured into doing so? Never sure if what I read is fact or fiction any more!

I’m hoping that schools will reopen before anything else this time.

I read that too

But it seems to be a recurrent theme

I don't care who is pushing him or bribing him - surely at some point he's got to do what he thinks is right?!

MercyBooth · 16/01/2021 23:34

Cant stand Hancock but that story in the Mail is ridiculous. They are OUTSIDE.

BogRollBOGOF · 16/01/2021 23:37

I think Feb HT to Easter is fair game.
Last year death rates tailed off from mid-April, and transmission peaked at the end of March. No mitigation prior to 16th March, lockdown 23rd March. No vaccines, no immunity in the community.
I can not see any sensible reason why schools should not be in beyond Easter.
This wave is begining to stabilise and decline in the SE so that pattern should follow in the next few weeks. Tier 4 is not substantially different to lockdown, but does enable schooling. Regions with declining rates can get schooling reactivated by use of the tier system, politically that's better than having the whole school system shut down and makes it easier to get schools operating again and avoids a ridiculous situation like last June when it was "too dangerous" to get schools back despite very low rates. At least schools have been back in less ideal conditions than that.

Just my musings anyway!

Could be a chance for people to share their experiences of mask exemption hatred on the Twitter hashtags.
