The saga continues to continue with more sequels than a trilogy of trilogies...

Someone has posted a video on the trust Facebook page of fucking Dr Hillary explaining why the delay in the timing of the vaccines is perfectly fine. If I had any doubts, this has confirmed it. In my opinion that says it all, they are talking shite!

TheOrchidKiller · 14/01/2021 18:42

Oh god, I have a Trouser Refuser as well as a Coat Refuser! How have I just realised this?! He'll wear a coat but with shorts. He is probably wearing shorts right now, & spent most of last term wearing shorts to 6th form.
He had to wear a suit for an online interview the other day - he wore the trousers for that.

I feel the cold & wear a vest most days. Perhaps there's been a genetic mutation & I've produced two hot-blooded offspring!

Iheartmysmart · 14/01/2021 18:42

DS was also a coat refuser. In fact he refused most clothes to be honest. I have many memories of being out with him and picking up the trail of clothes left in his wake. Didn’t seem to matter where we were.

Jourdain11 · 14/01/2021 18:42

I still remember myself being a coat refused as a child, so I have to be sympathetic really! DD2 is a coat refuser, a trousers refuser (leggings are acceptable), a polo neck sweater refuser ("ugly and itchy"), a patterned sock refuser ("for babies") and a hat refuser ("they mess up my hair"). Like I've said before, the child is 7, so God knows how she is going to develop this as a teenager!

TheOrchidKiller · 14/01/2021 18:45

This made me larf. So true when OH goes shopping without the list.
I've had a shopping fail. Decided to send DPs a card to cheer them up. Got a nice one with a watercolour scene on when I had to go to the post office. Didn't bother to look inside the card until I got home. It says "Happy Birthday!" Suppose it could be worse - "Sorry for your loss" would get them worried!

Iheartmysmart · 14/01/2021 18:48

I had a birthday card from my Nan once that said Happy Easter in big letters across the front. Goodness knows where she found it as my birthday is in late September.

NannyGythaOgg · 14/01/2021 19:09

@TheOrchidKiller
I have Snow Envy. We've had ineffective, pathetic snow here. It does look rather like blood in that snowman picture grin

Food colouring - I had to be inventive. The eyes are wine bottle tops. The nose is a gin bottle cork and the 'scarf' is Amazon packing paper.

CoffeeWithCheese · 14/01/2021 19:41

I am STILL a coat refuser now - I can't stand the feeling of flappy stuff on my arms (yet another of my sensory quirks I'm increasingly wondering about). Can be (well I wish I was these days) at the school gate with snow on the ground and the most I'm likely to be in is a gilet with everyone wondering what the hell I'm on.

I joke it off about being a northern lass - but it's the arm thing. Particularly can't stand wearing a coat while in the car.

Iheartmysmart · 14/01/2021 19:47

@CoffeeWithCheese Can I recommend a poncho! Can’t bear driving with a coat on either, it makes me a niggly for want of a better word. My poncho is kind of a happy medium between a coat and a gilet.

The Covid bully brigade are kicking off on a dog grooming thread now. Can’t they just all butt out for once. A quick drop off/pick up at a groomers isn’t going to be any more of a risk than click and collect at a shop. Apart from my dog pinched a sausage at the groomers on Saturday.

MissEWeatherwax · 14/01/2021 20:17

In my junk mail today, I received a leaflet for funeral directors, I think it might be a sign 😂

NoisyBrain · 14/01/2021 20:17

The dog grooming thread has now been zapped.

Good to see MNHQ clamping down on sanctimonious cuntery.

Iheartmysmart · 14/01/2021 20:19

Good thing too, there were some awful comments on there.

AcornAutumn · 14/01/2021 20:37

Is it actually true that dog groomers have to close?

TheOrchidKiller · 14/01/2021 20:40

@NannyGythaOgg

Amazing, very inventive! You could a lot of fun with food colouring & snow. Maybe not the yellow, though.

Iheartmysmart · 14/01/2021 20:47

@AcornAutumn DDog’s were open at the weekend although they are supposed to be doing welfare grooming rather than for aesthetic reasons. He definitely needed clipping! Can’t say that I can see the problem with them being open - it’s a quick drop off into a holding crate and contactless payment on collection. In there for less than 2 minutes. Oh and everyone was wearing a mask, well except the dogs.

TabbyStar · 14/01/2021 20:59

thefallthroughtheair You're right, I look at statistics for a job. The figures at the moment are on the high side, though if you look at Euromomo - the country graphs at three end, for England it's only slightly above the winter peak in 2018 (although the space under the graph is also important, not just how high it goes). The other three countries of the UK are interesting too. www.euromomo.eu/graphs-and-maps/

Of course the worry is it will continue to climb over the coming weeks and we will see more of a disproportionate effect (though still IMO not enough to justify lockdown).

A lot of the lockdown sceptics (as opposed to the covid deniers) are data-driven and pretty sensible.

This thread details all the studies that evidence that lockdowns don't work in reducing actual deaths mobile.twitter.com/the_brumby/status/1349478824606502912

There is a data thread but last time I looked, which was quite a long time ago, it was pretty dementory.

TheOrchidKiller · 14/01/2021 21:00

Was the standard of dog grooming like this, @Iheartmysmart?
A touch of the 1970s there, but oh, my eyes!

ADs may have buggered boilers but we haven't got the clap
Iheartmysmart · 14/01/2021 21:03

@TheOrchidKiller That kind of resembles my attempt during first lockdown when the groomers were shut. Luckily they do a much better job than me and spare DDog the humiliation of a home haircut!

BogRollBOGOF · 14/01/2021 21:04

ADs and their pampered poodles Grin

NoisyBrain · 14/01/2021 21:04

@Iheartmysmart I suspect there are some who would totally go for mandatory masks for dogs as a new rule....

BogRollBOGOF · 14/01/2021 21:09

DH and DS2 have now been so long without professional hair cuts that they're both getting the eccentric professor look.

DS1 isn't so bad as I can cope with doing a bob. Grin

I hacked off about 3 inches of dry ends at the end of my pity fest last weekend. I start buy doing the MN ponytail cut, then get rid of the excess length with the multiple ponytails.

Iheartmysmart · 14/01/2021 21:09

@NoisyBrain There was actually someone on the zapped thread that said dog owners are twice as likely to catch Covid! No idea if it’s true. To be fair if DDog did wear a mask it would probably stop him from eating all the crap he finds on the floor. There is a nursery opposite and small children are great at dropping food! The pack of Tutti Fruitties he found played havoc with his teeth though.

Great name for the next thread @BogRollBOGOF

CallmeAngelina · 14/01/2021 21:19

I was just looking for that thread. I asked my (dog's) groomer if she was closing and she didn't know anything about it?
Was the thread zapped because it got nasty or because it was spreading an untruth?

Iheartmysmart · 14/01/2021 21:22

It got very nasty! Mumsnet absolutely did the right thing by deleting it. Some of the comments were awful.

CallmeAngelina · 14/01/2021 21:24

Right, fair enough, but is it correct that they're now non-essential?
