The saga continues to continue with more sequels than a trilogy of trilogies...

"oh i should say that the opening of the windows was clearly in a home lived in by a couple, not in a 2000 strong school or something.
My in laws however have taken it to heart and despite the fact that they don't leave the house and quarantine all shopping and post, they open their windows to get rid of any latent Covid..."

By this logic, couldn't Covid enter?
Nah, covid only goes in one direction, doesn't it? Otherwise why have we got all these one-way systems everywhere? Wink

I think I am slowly going mad. Today has been difficult. My boss said she thought I had been very calm during a difficult meeting. Calm? If I think about anything I either want to scream or cry. I must be good at acting.

Virtual hugs to everyone who needs one tonight.

(PS : DH's breathing is really getting on my wick.)

Hello, catching up after another manic day at work.

Losing the will to live a little bit at the moment as work just has no let up. Interestingly I had to email an NHS Consultant (read Angel) expecting it to be a week or more before he responded. In fact he emailed me back within minutes and was really helpful!!

@Jourdain11 good luck for tomorrow!

LivinLaVidaLoki · 12/01/2021 19:06

@Jourdain11 hope all goes well tomorrow.

@SpnBaby1967 I can sympathise regarding work being relentless at the moment, my workloads going up and up with more young people in crisis mode. I always used to feel the reward of my work, the things I could give back, balanced out the almost relentless misery. But now I feel that balance has shifted significantly and I feel I've less and less to give as the work demands and pressures are going up and up and up.

DB has now been discharged from the hospital back into the clinical care bit of the home so that is such a relief. Even though my faith in the home has shaken this week, if he is ok to be out of the hospital, then that is a good thing.

smallandimperfectlyformed · 12/01/2021 19:19

So pleased to hear that about your brother @LivinLaVidaLoki. I hope he continues to recover in his care home.
Today has been so crap, I actually cried on the phone to the school receptionist who had only rang to confirm that I had applied for my youngest daughter's place in reception in September. She called when my little girl was in the middle of an almighty tantrum because there was no chocolate in the house! I keep giving in because I live in a block of flats and am worried about her tantrums disturbing everyone else who is staying at home!

Iheartmysmart · 12/01/2021 19:30

I’m really pleased to hear the news about your brother @LivinLaVidaLoki Flowers

I’ve just been on a killing spree to see DM, wafting clouds of covid particles in my wake. Stood outside and had a quick chat about logistics for getting DF to his vaccination appointment. She can’t manage to lift his mobility scooter in the car so thought I’d better do it. Hopefully that’s legal but I really don’t know any more.

Turns out my nan is most annoyed that the Queen was vaccinated before her when they are the same age! Not sure how they will do nan’s vaccine as she’s not left her house for ages. May suggest she sticks her arm out the window and they get her with a dart gun.

Good luck for tomorrow @Jourdain11 Flowers

I'm actually quite glad at the moment that I'm single!

Those dance workouts look good. I might try the High School Musical ones Grin

ISaySteadyOn · 12/01/2021 20:04

So glad your DB is out of hospital @LivinLaVidaLoki.

@AcornAutumn, yes! The one I did had songs from Chicago, and Rent! and Grease. Pretty much the soundtrack to my teenage years Smile. And she can't help singing along either. I liked her for that.

NastyBlouse · 12/01/2021 20:19

That’s good news @LivinLaVidaLoki

Yes @thefallthroughtheair ‘the science’ needles at me too. Like there’s only one of it, and we’re following it because it plays a pretty tune or something.

I’ve had a fun day. My lip twitch has been joined by an eyelid one. So I look like I’m flirting with people and sneering at them at the same time. Grin

Had a GP chat just to check it out — anxiety, natch.

Which is reassuring, but I’m now just waiting to see which part of my anatomy will join the percussion section next...

NastyBlouse · 12/01/2021 20:20

Ooh and I saw two herons (back to ornithology)

justasking111 · 12/01/2021 20:24

We're getting dragged off the hills and mountains here even the locals FFS

TabbyStar · 12/01/2021 20:26

Benign fasciculation syndrome. I started with my eyelid then it spread everywhere for a while, my fingers were the freakiest thing, I thought I had Parkinson's. I was massively stressed, it's calmed down now.

tinselearedcow · 12/01/2021 20:29

Can I sit quietly in a corner for a bit? There is a thread running where the OP's elderly mum wants to go to the shops. There are people making up all sorts of rules to argue she shouldn't be daring to go to the shops. It's really mind blowing.

justasking111 · 12/01/2021 20:31

@LivinLaVidaLoki glad your DB got over the wire good news

Worldgonecrazy · 12/01/2021 20:41

@tinselearedcow I saw that thread and couldn’t believe what I was reading. What a horrible way to treat your mother!

Evenstar · 12/01/2021 21:43

Good news @LivinLaVidaLoki hope he recovers quickly 💐

All the best for tomorrow @Jourdain11 💐

MercyBooth · 12/01/2021 22:28

Saw my consultant today, he is booking me in for a cat scan. Has anyone here had a cat scan?

@justasking111

Yes, a few.

It was like a big machine hovering over me, not like the MRI tunnel at all.

They are quite quick these days too, I think. I was in an accident and had a spinal injury so over recovery it was used to check out possible damage from collarbone to arse!

Weedsnseeds1 · 12/01/2021 23:00

Good luck and best wishes to all who are flagging.
I am somewhat rejuvenated after my first on site work in about 3 months.
I successfully crossed borders and completed a 1.5 hour journey in each direction without police blockades or drone surveillance.
M4 and M5 were also ambulance free, notably so, compared to the before times.
I was also cheered to note that the lovely factory workers were keen to interact with me, to the point where one lady came up and asked me where I bought my trousers ( Primark about 3 years ago!). I was doing the whole, keep away, don't talk to people because machine noise in a factory means you are face to face when speaking, it can't be avoided. It was an ambient site, with about 10 cases out of 60 employees throughout, so probably community infections as spread out more than a cluster, and interaction with new people felt amazing.

There was a temperature check, hand wash, health questionnaire, hand sanitise before I could enter the offices ( normal except the temperature check) then once in the meeting room, with admittedly fewer people than usual, to allow for social distancing, it was " We don't mind if you take your mask off, if you don't". I could have hugged them! Except I obviously didn't!
I sound like the worst, evil, COVID spreading person on earth, but, but, it felt so gooood....

Mrsfrumble · 12/01/2021 23:02

Hi @Orangeblossom77777. Yes, FIL was DCs one remaining Grandpa (my dad died a couple of years ago). DCs are only 10 and 8, and I feel bad for them that they’ve lost both so young. Both of my grandfathers had died by the time I was 6, and I’d lost both grannies too before I turned 12. As a teenager and young adult I used to be so envious of people whose grandparents were still alive!
I’m so sorry to hear about your loss. How is your DP coping?

justasking111 · 12/01/2021 23:09

@AcornAutumn that sounds ok. I did not enjoy the MRI machine I had a few years ago, somewhat noisy and you were expected not to move for 20 minutes.

AcornAutumn · 12/01/2021 23:11

Oh, MRI is grim! Don't worry, it's nothing like that.

Jourdain11 · 12/01/2021 23:16

@LivinLaVidaLoki so glad about your brother.

@justasking111 I had a CAT scan shortly after my diagnosis and it was really okay. Much less horrible than MRI! I hope it all goes okay and that you don't have to wait too long.

Thx for all the good luck wishes for tomorrow. I'm nervous as anything! But I do think it'll be okay. I think I'm feeling more like myself. (DD2 said today, somewhat glumly, to DS, "she must be getting better, she's telling us off properly again.")

Weedsnseeds1 · 12/01/2021 23:44

My OH will be redundant around Easter, he still hasn't been given an exact date. I am dreading it, its bad enough "working from home" (me, he's been on site but isolated) but the endless wall of sound as I am followed from one room to the next, the narrative on every TV programme, the non-stop NOISE THAT NEVER ENDS, is driving me insane. Make. It. Stop. Please. Someone.

AcornAutumn · 12/01/2021 23:45

Jourdain good to hear.

My emotional body clock is the wrong way. Well, so is my body clock generally.

In the morning, I feel really low about everything.

By 11pm I'm wide awake and incandescent with rage. If I woke up that way, at least 🎤anger is an energy 🎤 and
I could channel it to get more out of the day.
