Name changed for this. We're getting a puppy next month-so so excited! Any suggestions for names? We're arguing....

Shouldhavegotarescue

Probablycontributedtopuppyfarming

Irresponsiblepetowners

Three perfect names.

Do people who post like this genuinely want responsibly bred, health tested diverse breeds to suit all situations and roles to die out, and everything just to be some sort of neutered rescue mongrel, until all dogs finally disappear?

There is no indication so far that this breeder is not responsible, so do get over yourself.

I don’t like people names for pets.

Panda
Mouse
Bunny

Well giving a puppy to a person the puppy has never met is pretty poor form in my mind.

Actually buying an animal is pretty poor form too.

Rescue dogs aren’t suitable for everyone in every situation, and only I’ll informed people make these comments. It’s trendy to say it, but have your really thought it through.

Rescue dogs often come with special needs and deserve the right homes and owners to suit their needs.

There is nothing at all wrong with using a Responsible breeder

I do agree that a blanket 'only rescue' is unrealistic and isn't always the right thing.

I have two endangered or close to endangered breeds and I feel no guilt having dogs that almost never come up in rescues.

Some people in my life have been sniffy about it.

PS. Plenty of rescue dogs are responsibly bred, health checked puppies, or they were once, before they ended up in rescue centres.

Both of ours were.

I would have loved a rescue. Unfortunately no rescue would let us because we have a child. It’s ridiculous to suggest that nobody should ever have a dog other than a rescue or they’re contributing to puppy farming. My dog was responsibly bred from a family pet. He is perfect and because we knew the temperaments of his parents, and they and the puppies were able to be fully health tested, we knew he would be a good fit for our family. Not to mention that the breeder got to know the puppies personalities and fitted our family with the right one from the litter.

Polo
Crunckle (coz her nose is crunkled up!)
Snork (because she's cute and reminds me of the Moomin character)
Snufkin (coz she'll be snuffly)
Bozza (coz of her bonedome!)
Bear.

And it’s lovely they found a good home with you.

But criticising everyone who doesn’t follow your path is mean spirited And narrow minded.

Buying a puppy from a breeder does not make you a bad person.

I don't think anyone would say it's ideal, for sure - but y'know, global pandemic 'n' all ...
reefedsail · 09/01/2021 10:48

I think people are missing that you are buying a white boxer. Until recently, white boxers were killed at birth as they were not breed standard, so well done OP!

Given that she's white, I second the suggestion upthread for Blanche. (Also love Beryl (the peril) though as she looks like a cheeky one.

Enjoy your new family member, she's gorgeous!

LDpuppy · 09/01/2021 11:14

Thank you @SleepOhHowIMissYou . My mum has had boxers all her life and was a bit concerned we were even considering a white one - still a lot of myths around them.
