Pain after dental root canal treatment

I had a root canal procedure yesterday, and am in pain now. I was told it wouldn’t hurt. The first bit didn’t but the tugging bit made me wince a little so had an injection.

Felt sore last night, which I expected with my mouth being bashed around. However, as I tried to get to sleep, it got painful so ended up taking painkillers. Been on paracetamol all day today.

I’m now panicking that i opted for treatment that was wrong,
. Ie. My tooth wasn’t actually dead. Also, I’m hoping it will cause my dental problems, but what if I answered the questions all wrong, and so I had the wrong treatment. My tooth next to the affected one feels a little jarred. What if that one needs work?

To be honest, the actual procedure wasn’t too bad. I was dreading it, but I did have my headphones on and was listening to something to distract me.

Just feeling a little sorry for myself today, and wishing I hadn’t had anything done,

Cure, not cause

When I had mine done they said it was normal to feel a bit of pain for the next few days after the procedure, but to call if it was intense pain or throbbing.

I've had quite a few done and never had any pain afterwards other than feeling a bit achy and stiff from having my mouth open so long. I would give the dentist a call just to check its normal or whether he needs to check it, maybe there's an infection starting?

I had one on my next to back bottom tooth on the left
The actual procedure was fine but it hurt like hell afterwards. Agony. It eventually calmed down. I have a crown there now and it is fine. Don't panic!

The dentist will have taken photos of your tooth and will have carried out the correct procedure.

I have had two root canals done in the last 3 years. One of them hurt at the time, but not badly enough for an injection. The other one hurt a bit afterwards but not unbearably. You need to leave it to settle for a bit. I hope you feel better soon.

I needed 10 days of metronidazole last time. If it's still sore tomorrow call them. However, I also needed a decent amount of codeine to even take the edge off.

Thanks for all your replies. Fortunately in less pain today, and only took paracetamol first thing just before work. Aching a bit now so may take some later if the pain progresses. Also, a couple of teeth ‘ache’. However, definantly a lot better than yesterday.
