Boring question alert! Printers!

This is such a boring question but does anyone have recommendations for a printer that isn't going to cost me the earth with inks etc?

Obviously this is for home schooling I'd never dream of spending hard earned cash on one normally as I have zero use for one (pre covid) and it will likely get shoved in a cupboard one normality resumes 😁 so cheap-ish only suggestions please (if there's such a thing!)

Sorry, no advice, but I need a printer, too. Will await any suggestions with interest, if you don't mind, op!

No problem @HunkyPunk hopefully we'll have some knowledgeable people along soon! I've pulled my hair out today writing out questions and poor ds looking at worksheets on screen 😣

If it's just for home schooling, then the ink that comes with the printer should see you through til Easter. So just buy a cheap colour inkjet from a reputable brand (Epsom, Canon, Brother) and don't worry about the scandalous ink cartridge cost. You shouldn't need to spend more than £50.

Does it have to be colour? Laser printers are much less susceptible to faults and printing issues and work out much cheaper per page than inkjet. You can get a basic black laser printer plus a compatible toner cartridge for £100 or so all-in.

Its also likely to keep better than an inkjet if it's in a cupboard and only brought out for occasional use. Or you could sell it and get some of your money back when you no longer need it.

Cheap printers seem to have already been panic bought!

I got a wireless one a few months ago from Argos - HP, think it was about £40 which was v reasonable.

Can also get non-HP cartridges that fit and last longer.

I take it back about cheap colour inkjets - they all seem to be out of stock.

The HP instant ink scheme has saved us hundreds on ink since March.

I've just managed to get this one in curry's can collect today. Seems to be the only cheap one left! Comes with 2 months ink subscription so fingers crossed it will see me through Shock
