Any Bird Watchers about? Do you know what this bird is?

This bird has appeared at the bird feeder for the past two days - SE, urban garden. I thought yesterday it also had an orange/red patch on the top of its head as well as the red patch seen here on its lower belly. I can't seem to identify it on the REPB website.

Any clues?

Can’t see picture but there are redwings around at this time of year?

Lightsabre · 07/01/2021 11:47

Ah sorry, will try to attach again!

Sounds like a redpoll or a linnet from your description but I'd need to see a photo.

Still no photograph... however, is it a woodpecker?

Teaseall · 07/01/2021 11:53

That's a woodpecker. We get one on our feeders in SE woodland garden.

Woodpecker

Is it just me that can’t see any pics?

NourishedOutdoors · 07/01/2021 11:56

@Daisydoesnt Nope I cannot either.

But it may actually be a red poll, however, I suspect woodpecker.

Lightsabre · 07/01/2021 11:57

Thank you! The RSPB photo's looked too small so I'd ruled out a woodpecker but I can see the markings more clearly now.
