Do you have a chocolate fountain? Would you recommend it please?

Looking to buy one for DS' birthday next week. Obviously, we won't be having a party, so it would only need to feed a handful of people. The reviews are very inconsistent, so I'm looking for a recommendation please. I don't mind buying a large one, as they seem to work better (maybe?), but I know that I will need more chocolate for a large one.

Also the advice seems to be to melt the chocolate first.

All recommendations welcome!

We have one but rarely use it. I think you put chocolate buttons in and turn it on but you have to put a bit of oil to make it flow. Bit gross really but the kids love it.
I might get it out again, you’ve inspired me. But if a faff to clean but it does make people happy 😃.

I used to have one - used it once and sent it back - it worked fine but the amount of oil you have to use to get the chocolate to flow is unbelievable. In fact we got rid of it because I had one go (a few bit of fruit and marshmallows) and it made me ill because of the amount of oil involved (I have had my gall bladder out so extreme amounts of fat can cause a problem) - never occurred to me because I never realised how much oil you had to use. The sheer thought of it now makes me feel sick and I won't go near one again! and I am a chocoholic!!

A chocolate fondue may a better choice. I have a chocolate fountain and used it once!

Thanks for the feedback. A chocolate fondue may be the better choice. Any recommendations for one of those please?

You'll probably only use it once... if you manage to get it clean after the first go

Got mine 2nd hand and it's fun! Melt the chocolate first with some butter and double cream.
