I just took the dog out for a last wee before bed. My house is on a quiet village road, houses quite far apart. I usually walk a little way up for him to empty his bladder, then I turn back.
For a moment I saw the shape of a burly man, stocky, wide shoulders, walking towards me. Then he was just gone! No gates or turnings where he was. The dog was sniffing the air just to really put the fear into me! It really chilled me. I'm not even drunk!
Then I thought, we haven't had a good spooky thread in ages and we all need some entertainment. I know I'll regret it but let's share our spooky encounters.

When my Grandad was a boy in Ireland, he was walking down a narrow country lane with his friend. Was was evening time, so quite dark.
They heard a pony and trap behind them, so both moved over to opposite sides of the lane to let it past.
Well it came past alright, but they didn't see it, just heard it!
A ghostly pony and trap!
It unnerved my Grandad and his friend, but because he didn't really believe in stuff like that, he shrugged it off in later years!
