Jury Service

I wondered if anyone has done Jury Service during the pandemic? DH has to do it next month and I just wondered what it would be like - do you get called in on the Monday and just left somewhere waiting for a case or do they only call you in when there is a definite case?

Whilst typing this he has just had confirmation that it will definitely be going ahead during the lockdown.

If it’s the same as I did it a couple of years ago, You will sit in a large room with about 30 ish other people. This is because they have 2-3 jurys worth of people at all times.
You wait around and if a case becomes ready for a jury you get called in.
If not you get told to go home.

In my two weeks we were sent home every day for the first week then the second week we had a case that lasted 3 days then we were sent home for the final two days.

The other jury of people who were waiting the same time as me had a case that lasted 8 days.

My friend went for two weeks as was sent home early every day with no cases.

A woman I worked with got a big juicy case on day one and it lasted 3.5 weeks.

My son has been called for jury service in a couple weeks time.
We were in teir 4, so jurors were being called to an Odeon cinema ( complex closed) and court proceedings streamed on the screen.
Cinema is a mile away from court.

However as we are now in full lockdown I doubt even that will be going ahead.

@SoggyBiscuitss That was what it was like when I went, but I am assuming it will be different with Covid - I am not sure how they would socially distance 2 - 3 jury's worth of people for a full day.

@speakout DH had a text literally 5 minutes after Bojo had finished saying jury service was still going ahead.
