What is in your bedside drawers?

I recently got a new bedroom furniture set (new to me - passed down from family), and the bedside table have 3 fairly big drawers in each one. I am single, so I can use both.

Prior to now, my bedside table had one very small drawer. So having 6 bigger ones to use has me at a loss. A friend said she puts pillowcases in hers, another said PJs, but I have these in my linen cupboard (pillowcases) and dresser (pjs).

What does everyone else use multiple bedside drawers for? (I obviously get that one is v helpful for all the little things you might need at night!)

It depends on what the rest of your storage is like.
Could you free up some other space if you used a drawer each for socks and knickers?

In mine I have hand cream, tv remotes, a coaster, lip balm etc.

Plonque · 04/01/2021 15:39

I only have one small, narrow and not very deep drawer too, hence not a lot in it.

Pillowcases and bedding is a good shout if you're lacking in linen storage.

MrsHugsxx · 04/01/2021 15:45

Vibrators, knickers, socks, moisturizer, hand cream.

I keep my intimates in my bedside drawers alongside some books. I also have one drawer in my bedside cabinet where I keep medication and contraception. and the third is a general drawer for junk and on occasion I take the notion to clear the junk drawer only to fill it with more junk!

LifeAdvice · 04/01/2021 15:49

My storage is ok - I have a chest of drawers and a walk in robe, so fine for clothes. As I am only one person I am also using the robe for linen storage (in what would usually be the partner’s side. My stuff also spills over abit!)

I’m also trying to declutter clothes etc, so I don’t want to encourage other places to store them, unless it’s useful or makes sense.

So I don’t need to put pjs etc there, but what do people use them for?!? I thought perhaps the books I am currently reading, or candles, but I still have a lot of draw space. Am I missing something?!?

Top drawer vitamins, face cream, manicure stuff, second drawer nightclothes, bottom drawer has old diaries, greetings cards etc. Due for a sort out actually.

LifeAdvice · 04/01/2021 15:54

Yes, top drawer is my essential ‘junk’ drawer, with eye masks, tissues, bedsocks, hand cream, lip balm, tissues, Panadol, etc etc - all the usual things.

It seems a few people use them for lingerie. I already had a drawer for that, but maybe I’ll rethink. Thanks.

Condoms, lube and a torch. The torch is not intended for use in conjunction with the others before you ask.

LifeAdvice · 04/01/2021 15:55

Already had a lingere drawer in my chest of drawers, I mean! Not already in the bedside drawers!

If you don't require the storage they do also serve an aesthetic purpose. On top of mines I have a lamp & a scented candle alongside a vase of flowers. at DH's side he also has a matching lamp, and incense burner and a photo frame.
LifeAdvice · 04/01/2021 15:56

Lol @TooTrueToBeGood I have the same three, and understand completely🤣

Books, sex toys, condoms/lube/etc, hand cream, face cream, diaries and notebooks, memory tin, eye mask, moisturising gloves, bed socks etc. Bedroom junk, really!

A torch is a good idea.

PattyPan · 04/01/2021 16:15

I have two drawers. The top one has my underwear, handkerchiefs and masks although I keep meaning to move the latter closer to the front door. The bottom drawer has my socks. My DP has the same in his but the other way round because he’s a weirdo who doesn’t put his drawers in order of what goes where on your body 😂
If I had another drawer I’d put my jewellery, deodorant and hair stuff in it.

rorosemary · 04/01/2021 16:18

Cheap jewelry so the burglar doesn't go looking for the real stuff.

Also a one line per day five year diary.

And the ordinary stuff like paracetamol and blistex.

Wannabewriter · 04/01/2021 16:22

Ours are in such a mess! There’s just random crap in them and it actually annoys me sleeping next to them. I want them to be organised and only contain useful things.

Ninkanink · 04/01/2021 16:25

My pyjamas & lightweight/pretty dressing gowns.

Whatever book I’m currently on, for easy reach in the evening before sleep.

I like that idea!
PattyPan · 04/01/2021 16:27

I get around the burglary issue by having nothing in my house worth stealing and my jewellery box is an old biscuit tin Grin

Ninkanink · 04/01/2021 16:28

Yes it’s not as if I’m dripping in diamonds, tbf...

PinotPony · 04/01/2021 16:30

Sex toys. 6 drawers worth. 😂I'm going to buy a trunk with a padlock instead.

Ninkanink · 04/01/2021 16:31

Mine are in a slightly less predictable location. 😉😉

BoobyBetty22 · 04/01/2021 16:45

Drawer 1- pain killers, tssues, condoms, nivea soft, current read.
I also keep a pack of mints in case I have morning breath and want to stay in bed a bit longer before brushing my teeth! Grin

Drawer 2- my reusable sanitary towels and liners

Drawer 3- phone charger

StarlightLady · 04/01/2021 16:50

Remember that you don’t have to fill them all. The content of bed side drawers evolve over time.

In my case it’s make up, pain killers, tampax, torch, pen, travel toiletries (mini shampoos etc), passport, condoms, vibrators, batteries, travel toilet bag, tissues and kindle.

Sausagessizzling · 04/01/2021 16:52

Don't rush to fill them! They will fill with junk soon enough!

inchoccyheaven · 04/01/2021 16:53

I just emptied mine out as re organised as they had so much stuff in them.
Top drawer has medicines, notebooks and pens, hairbands and clips.
Middle has contact lenses, sunglasse, anniversary cards and presents ready for couple weeks time.
Bottom drawer has knicker liners, wax strips, cotton buds etc.

My drawers are not big enough for clothes.
