I need to hear good news, happy stuff, anything positive. What’s going on with you?

Anyone recently got engaged? New job? Moving house? Any babies on the way? Discovered a new fat-free snack that taste exactly like a profiterole? Maybe you’ve painted a room an exciting colour and would like to show me? Perhaps you’ve carried out some analysis comparing teabags and can share your findings? I’ll take anything that is bringing you happiness.

Will also accept (if not encourage!) pictures of pets. Or exceptionally handsome houseplants.

Our 19 year old went back to university yesterday.
Peace reigns once again.
We love her, but she’s a little bit emotional and volatile

My son got made redundant on the 5th December and today he got a new job, same sector but shedloads more money. That's worth popping a cork or two if it wasn't Dry January

ReeseWitherfork · 04/01/2021 15:09

@Mydogisagentleman such is the way of a 19 year old, it’s their god-given right to be a bit dramatic isn’t it! Are you enjoying not being yelled at?

@MaelyssQ that’s wonderful!! Congrats to him. That’s impressive that he was only a month out of work in this climate, I trust you are very proud.

Over Christmas I held an 80's-style dinner party on WhatsApp. Selfies and photographing your food were totally the point. This was my fanned avocado starter, complete with oh-so-chic black tablecloth. Grin

I'm having leftover Chinese takeaway for late lunch. Did a lateral flow test this morning and it's negative. I have ongoing sinus issues. So feeling poorly is just that.

Not big stuff but a bit of positivity!

I bought a footstool in Aldi this morning. It’s a lovely powder pink and matches my new curtains perfectly. Was thrilled to pay £24.99 for it, as priced, but it scanned at £9.99. Really cheered me up as I’m usually very tight Grin

I am immensely proud of my son - relieved too, because it's not looking good out there for jobhunters.

Loving the look of the avocado starter @BaronessBomburst

My 23 yrs old finally started her new job working in a lab. She did a degree a few yrs ago and now has a job in her field. Don't think her dog is happy, she has been sleeping on her bed all morning.

I'm having a tough day (after a rather sleepless night) with my 2 year old and 8 week old at home. But my baby gave me the biggest grin. It was gorgeous and I managed to capture a photo on my phone and send it to cheer up my family. Grin

Just saw on my local Facebook page that the Oxford Vaccine just got dropped off at my GP surgery. I won't get it for ages but delighted it's in the community.

We had lasagne and mangetout for main, then cheesecake with kiwi for dessert.
Just in case anyone was interested. Wink

I bought myself the new recipe book by the people who run the Seafood Shack in Ullapool because we went there in the summer and it was fab, and it turns out the book is rather brilliant too.

Our eight month old actually put a carrot finger in his mouth yesterday, bit a piece off, chewed it and swallowed some! I have been trying to wean him since he was 5 months old without success, so much so that we have been prescribed rectal paracetamol for him as he is so orally defensive I can't even get a syringe into his mouth to give him medicines. We now just need to sort out his seating as he is unable to sit unsupported, the seat he has been given sits him too reclined, it has no facility for a tray and we need to do food play to help with his food aversion. His OT is sending us a new seating system to try in which we can use a tray so fingers crossed we can move forward with food.

I got my new car today. Not new new but new for me and only done 32,000 miles. I feels so smooth and I am very pleased with it. My only good news in ages.
