Child benefit letter for school application

I'm waiting for a child benefit letter from Hmrc to apply for a school place. Normally they take just a few days but we've hardly had any post for a while and worried it won't arrive in time.

Anyone know what will happen if I can't submit it with the application?

Hi there - is this as evidence for a financially assisted place?
If so, you can ask to submit it after the application and explain there is a delay with it . It should also appear on your bank statement, which you can show as proof of receipt of into your account until the copy arrives with you.

Our area has a grace period for you to submit missing documents after the deadline. Check with your admissions office but it will probably be okay. There was an issue with our CB letter that didn't get picked up by admissions until a few weeks before offers day, and they still let me resubmit the correct one and get our offer as normal.

Are there any alternatives listed? Is it to prove address?

Thanks for your replies. Think it's to check home address but not really sure. They also advise you to add council tax number too. Will call admissions and see if there's a grace period.
