I'm trying to be more frugal in 2021.

I have just read about someone getting £75 from a cash back site when they took out house insurance. The house insurance was no more expensive by going through the cash back site, which surprised me as I always thought they were a bit of a gimmick.

So, how can I save money and which site is the best?
Any savvy savers out there please?

I use Quidco and have made a few hundred pounds. I’ve only tended to use it on major purchases or changes - like signing up for a new bank, new broadband or home appliances. I could probably make more if I remembered to use it more often on day to day things, but equally, there aren’t that many relevant deals for those sort of things and one thing I’ll say is sometimes the money you can make doesn’t outweigh the money you could save by shopping around, eg buying a set of hair straighteners from Curry’s via Quidco you could get £5 cash back but they are actually £10 cheaper if you buy them on Amazon.

We’ve used Quidco for a few years now and have about £900 in the pot. You have to get in the habit of checking a website is on there before buying anything. Even if it’s ordering a pizza and getting 2% back, it all adds up.

I use both Quidco and Topcashback - I check to see which has the highest cash back offer. As pp said you still need to shop around to ensure you’re getting the best deal, but if it’s stuff you’re going to buy anyway it’s just free money. It can take a while for the cashback to come through though, and sometimes it can get rejected for technicalities, so don’t rely on the cashback money and read the T&Cs for each retailer to understand what purchases will qualify for cashback.

I use top cashback it's great. I also use boom25 but that's not guaranteed cashback.

I use quidco for pretty much everything I buy online even if the cash back is pence. It's best though for my insurance renewals and big purchases. I usually earn a couple of hundred quid a year.

I use Quidco and topcashback. Mostly just Quidco, I’ve been doing it for over a decade and never purchase something without checking Quidco first!

I love cashback sites. I switch between topcashback and Quidco depending on what is on offer. I've made £1000s over the years.

I use topcashback, I have a plugin for my chrome browser that flags if cashback is available.

The big cashbacks are on switching incentives, i.e. utility providers, broadband, phone contracts, insurance etc and can often be in the range of £50-200 a time.

The other ones that are often decent are things like hotel or holiday bookings, and very occaisionally big ticket items like recently they had 15% back on AMD laptops at currys.

My advice is always consider the cashback a bonus, it doesn't always track through and you often cant get it credited later, save it up and withdraw once a year, and look for offers such as a 10% bonus if you take it as amazon vouchers, or xbox live credit etc.

Don't pay more for anything just to get the cashback. Treat the cashback as a bonus, occasionally the cashback doesn't materialise. It's only happened to me a couple of times in the last ten years though.

I use TopCashback mainly and sometimes Quidco. Also airtime rewards pays cash back when you link your payment card but it’s only for certain shops and when you reach £20.

Be aware though that most cash backs takes a while to pay out, usually a few months or sometimes even declined.
