Best cheap laptop

Any brands or minimum requirements I should look for?

I have a MacBook myself for work, so I know they are good, but the price is high for what I’m looking for.

Basically an easy to use laptop for my parents to use to start shopping online more. They have an apple tablet already but that’s basically a pricey screen for FaceTiming grandchildren! They find it tricky to look stuff up and type. With Covid, they have finally decided they might ‘try’.

So a basic laptop needed for them to set up online accounts, shop online ie amazon, Tesco’s. And start using for things like utilities and online banking.

Budget £300-400

Would a keyboard make the iPad easier to use for this? My 80 year old mum far prefers using her iPad (with keyboard) for these type of tasks. Getting the laptop out seems a bigger performance - and slower, plus of course, she’s used to the format and layout of the iPad screen now.

If you definitely want something else, then I’d take a look at chrome books - cheaper than traditional laptops but absolutely fine for the type of activity you mention,

Thanks. I didn’t really think about just a keyboard. That could work.

Now to try and get her to navigate the thing to tell me what model it is...
