A box of chocolate for my doctor's surgery - is that ok?

Just as the subject reads really, in the hope that some nurse/doctor/surgery staff can give me a heads up if this would be ok or not...

I've had some issues over the past year and am just really grateful about the kindness and helpfulness of surgery staff, so would it be acceptable to give them a box of chocolate..? Obviously sealed - happy to include the receipt if there might be concerns that it could be old/tampered with (so they can check it's just been bought).

But I wouldn't want anyone to feel uncomfortable, or if they need to throw it away anyway it'd be pointless :-) The only info I could find online was the GMC stating that doctors should get in touch if they're offered gifts worth more than £100... well it'd be far from that and my intention was just to give it to everyone, not just to my doctor. I wasn't planning on leaving a card with my name either, I would prefer to be anonymous.

Thanks for any advice :-)

I have no inside knowledge but I think that’s a lovely idea!

Midwife who works in various GP surgeries here.

Yes that’s acceptable and very kind of you. Hoping your health concerns are over now Flowers

I’m a GP and that would be much appreciated at our surgery. We’re pretty strict on our COVID measures but have still had and enjoyed chocolates, biscuits etc in the staff room.

If you’re going to give anonymously I’ll say thank you on behalf of your surgery staff OP Flowers

I work in a hospital and presents of chocolates and biscuits are plentiful and very gratefully appreciated!

Due to covid - we aren't allowed to have open food. Something like a tub of celebrations or quality street (since they are individually wrapped) - I'm sure would be wolfed down by hungry GPS, nurses and receptionists. 😁

Thanks everyone - great to know it's not a problem :-) I started thinking that I'd get there and hand it over and the receptionist would just look strangely at me and ask me what that was and why... but hopefully not then!

Good point with individually wrapped stuff - I had a favourite in mind but that's just a box you open, then chocolate pieces, but might rethink that then.

Thanks again :-) And thanks to all healthcare staff for doing your best (I cringe sometimes when I hear people complaining about the doctor being 10 minutes late, seriously, what do you think s/he is doing, having a little mumsnet break or maaaybe helping someone else..!)
