Can I freeze shop bought chocolate biscuits?

I've greedily opened the last layer of chocolate biscuits in a McVitie's box today slobbing on the couch with my coffee. Can I freeze the ones I don't eat and just take them out to defrost at a later point? Or does that not work with shop bought?

Why would you want to freeze them? Surely just put them in an airtight container... or am I missing something?

NannyR · 03/01/2021 19:07

I've never tried it but I imagine that they would go soggy. Why not just use a biscuit tin?

Just put them in an airtight box!
I don’t know how well it would work freezing homemade cookies after they’ve baked either though.

Don't have a biscuit tin. How long do they last in an airtight container?

It's only me and my wife eating them so would like to preserve if possible, I'm abroad and they're a wee taste of home!

Yeah it's more the dough before you bake that works well for freezing isn't it?

The best way I've found to store biscuits is in my stomach.

Buzzer3555 · 03/01/2021 19:23

If you freeze them they will turn to mush

Fair enough Grin

Airtight container it is then!

Yes, when we make them we freeze the dough (shape the cookies, well we use an ice cream scoop and freeze them as individual balls) and cook from frozen!
I can understand more why you’re being so precious over a box of standard biscuits if you’re abroad and they’re not easily available! I was initially a bit confused as to why you wouldn’t either just eat them because they were there Grin

Airtight container with a slice of bread to absorb the moisture.

I would probably try wrapping them tightly in cling film (or even better in portions so you don’t unwrap them all to just eat a couple) then putting them in the smallest airtight tub they will fit in.
