Ear corkscrews

Does anyone use them? Do they work or have I wasted money on tat again?

Think they’re called q-quicks (that might be American though). I love having a poke around with a cotton bud but know that I shouldn’t and have a bit a wax that I can’t seem to get at.

Any better methods you can recommend? I’d love to have them hoovered Grin but thought this might be a cheaper way to sort them out.

Nothing smaller than your elbow should ever be put into your ear. Hth.

So how do you clean them then? You can’t just leave them surely and they get itchy when I’ve washed my hair and the water gets in.

I saw an Instagram advert for them and then googled and found many reviews saying they were either useless or further pushed the wax in resulting in painful earwax compaction.

Olive oil is a more gentler approach until you see a medical professional.

Thanks, looks like a load of old shite then as suspected Grin

I was interested when I saw the Instagram advert! Alas, it wasn’t to be!

Avoid.

Save your money and find a qualified person who does microsuctioning in your area when lockdown is eased.
In the interim, olive oil drops as PP has said, or you could try the likes of Otex if you can tolerate them.

DH has used one and thinks it's amazing. I've got nothing out when I tried it and thought it was a piece of crap.

topcat2014 · 03/01/2021 21:44

Interesting as I am struggling atm.

Btw with olive oil do you all put cotton wool in after to hold it in?

Saz12 · 03/01/2021 22:05

I thought they were meant to be self cleaning? I’ve never cleaned mine ever. Gulp.

elsaesmeralda · 03/01/2021 22:21

Ears are self cleaning the wax is meant to naturally work it's way out. But that's coming from someone with a badly blocked ear and being referred to ENT!
