DD11 got her first phone four months ago. Every few days she receives texts or account verifications for the previous owner of the mobile number. Is it possible to request a ‘brand new’ number? Has anyone else had this problem?

Call the provider and request a new number. It's very simple.

I’ve had this. With my current number too - O2 said they could change it again but couldn’t guarantee a new number, so I kept it. I got a few texts and calls a week for the first few months, and it petered off. Nothing for a while now.

They were always odd messages, I think the old owner must have had a flashy car and more than a passing interest in drug sales...

Thanks @SendMeHome . I wondered if there are ‘non recycled’ numbers they might allocate to younger users - like a child protection thing?
