I lived in a 1 bedroom council flat and had been a council tenant for some time..Last year I became unwell and it was thought at the time it would better that I live with my daughter.
We were told by my housing officer not to give up my flat until my daughter had been given a four bedroom allocation to bid on property as it came upOver the last couple of weeks , we have discovered that just 6 months before I gave my flat back, there were 48 families in front of us which we were not told at the time because if we had known that ,I would not have gave up my flat.I feel like the council breached my tenancy and misled us, by not telling us the true reality of ever being given a four bedroom property if there were that amount of people in front of us.At the moment, we are living in overcrowded conditions..Why did the council tell us not to give up my flat before my daughter was given the four bed allocation bidding if there was not a cats chance of ever being given a larger home for us all to live in.
We cannot afford to rent private but feel we can call the council to get some redress for our position now.Has this happened to anyone else and what would you do.Ring the council and tell them what you have discovered and ask them to rehouse me because I was misled or for them to allocate a larger house ...We just don’t know what to do and I really would appreciate some advice
