Which wellies for children last?

I bought some wellies for my son in late August and over the Xmas break they both developed holes on the front part of the boot between the surface and rim around the foot bit. I’m 😡 as they were expensive -£28 - and I thought they’d last a while and seemed a good brand. They’ve been lightly used, maybe every other weekend in the playground kind of thing rather than miles of country walks. They replaced some wellies from Jojo where the same thing had happened (surface cracking).

Any recommendations for wellies which last longer than a few months?

Sainsbury's have been great for my 2. Generally the Gruffalo ones, done both apart from the pair my older DC wore through the sole due to the amount of walking and slow growing feet. She also wore out her normal shoes that size so not the Wellies' fault.

Those Lidl ones with the light up heels much thicker than normal ones with a metal strip to reflect the heat.

The black ones from shoe zone for under 10 pounds were good ..

Crocs. Also very lightweight and with handle type things to pull them on.

If you want something a bit different - see-through wellies you can add your own socks to style - I got these, they come in a drawstring bag instead of a shoebox. They get good reviews and also won a "2020 Gift of the Year" award.

Crocs wellies and they're very comfortable

KenAdams · 02/01/2021 22:05

I don't rate adult Hunters but all the kids ones we've had we've been able to hand down. Crocs are great too as they're moulded so nowhere to split.

Muddy Puddles ...their wellies cost about £25 and are very good . Have had no issue at all with their stuff. I absolutely love their stuff.

I just bought my son a pair from Next for £13, he never normally wears them but the snow is here with more forecasted this week so hopefully he will be out in them.

Definitely the crocs ones, always bought them when DS was younger.

drsambeckett · 03/01/2021 16:12

Aigle ones are great and they make lined ones too. Indestructible!

Champagneforeveryone · 03/01/2021 16:49

DS (who is admittedly now 16 and a size 11!) had Hunter wellies from the start. I bought his first pair and kept them, bought the second and sold them on eBay while buying a larger size also on eBay. DS had about 8 pairs all in all, none of which cost more than a few £s due to what I made on the previous pair.

@Shirtyllama thanks for the Decathlon recommendation! I’ve ordered some for both my daughter and myself today!
