Quick question about Job seekers allowance

I'm currently claiming JSA, I only started to receive it in November and I'm going to starting a new job on Monday. My question is when should I let them know about new job? I asked a friend and she said everything is automatically done once I start working so I don't need to do anything but that doesn't sound right to me. I get paid at the end of January by new employer.

From memory, I called up and went through an automated helpline, which took my details and confirmed my case was closed. I didn't want to get into a situation where I owed them money or was accused of claiming fraudulently.
