Wakefield to Heckmondwike grammar school

My daughter goes to Heckmondwike grammar school from Sep 2020. Wondering if anyone was travelling from sandal area to the school . Public buses will take ages! Car share option / regular mini bus hires looks better. Anyone interested ?

We will be in a similar situation if our son gets through to HGS entrance this year.We live in Wrenthorpe. As far as we aware,no school buses run from Wakefield to HGS.I know a school bus service goes from HGS to Morley (that is only available in the afternoon though).Have you tried speaking to the school if they can help you contact with other Wakefield parents.If you do get an arrangement sorted then we might get in touch with you if our son gets through the entrance this Sept/Oct time.

I have tried contacting the school via email due to covid situation, have not met any parents or teachers in person
But the school have not replied
I have contacted the bus service Too
They said they only have had a couple of enquiries into this and so unless there is a significant number of pupils for travel they won’t be considering it
So I was thinking about trying to contact parents from Wakefield to think about this together and arrange some form of transport like how the Leeds team have arranged bus service from their side

I can completely understand your situation and we will be in the same boat probably next year if our son passes Heckmondwike.It’s not an option for us to drive all the way to Heckmondwike and drive back to Wakefield for work.If I get any info about transport from Wakefield, I will let you know here.

@Gardeningmom TS Travel are starting a bus service from Wakefield to Heckmondwike.It will start from Durkar(Outside Garden Centre).

Our son will be sitting for the entrance exam this year so we too are interested to know if the bus service starts.
