So now coming tomorrow at 4pm I have 3 bottles of champagne and nothing else. If I call tomorrow morning will they let me cancel it? Sad

This again?

Thistles24 · 01/01/2021 23:45

I’ve done this before and called but it’s still turned up. The delivery drivers will return it for you, it just means you wait up to 5 days or so for a refund.

Vitaminsss · 01/01/2021 23:45

I think so, I have heard that supermarkets may call you to double check if that’s your intended order or not

Murinae · 01/01/2021 23:46

I did this with Tesco once and managed to cancel the order by ringing customer services

DianaT1969 · 01/01/2021 23:48

Out of interest, why is it always champagne used as a placeholder? Why not your favourite items, or part of last week's shop?

DianaT1969 · 01/01/2021 23:49

You added them to your basket and checked out?

BernardsarenotalwaysSaints · 01/01/2021 23:50

This is why I now hold with: bananas, oranges, bread, ham, Frosties, milk, sausages, potatoes, baked beans & a bottle of squash Xmas Grin

Cost( to reach minimum order) & time.

My one I forgot was red wine. 12 bottles of it.

SmidgenofaPigeon · 01/01/2021 23:53

It is always champagne isn’t it? Why would you not put part of your actual shop in?

What’s the minimum spend? If it’s £40 and you have three bottles it’s not even good stuff Grin

BadTattoosAndSmellLikeBooze · 01/01/2021 23:53

I don’t use Sainsbury’s but Morrison’s and Tesco let you cancel if you call them so I would think Sainsburys will be the same. Or you could just enjoy your champagne. I’ve accepted a few just wine or whiskey deliveries. 😬🤣

Floralnomad · 01/01/2021 23:56

But you don’t have to put in the minimum shop you need to check out with something in the basket and it will just temporarily show as charging you the small basket charge . I check out every online shop I book with carrots and milk in it .

IsABit2020 · 01/01/2021 23:58

I just click bottles of champagne through because it's easier than trying to remember what I want when I book the slot. I always go in a few nights before and change. I've learnt my mistake now anyway. And for some stupid reason I ordered £60 of champagne not £40.

Ooh I didn't know that. Could be a game changer. Milk much more useful than champagne. Grin

What champagne is it? Only asking because it’s my birthday in a few days and I have nectar points to spend, so if they have a good offer...

Shamoo · 02/01/2021 00:03

I never really understand why people don’t just put their last shop in their new basket. It takes 30 seconds and at least that way you know you like most of what is ordered if you forget to update.

Good luck though OP! Not sure if they will help you out, hope so.

kirktonhouse · 02/01/2021 00:04

I was 2 minutes too late to cancel a single loaf of bread arriving tomorrow evening. Tesco usually send 5000 reminder texts and messages when I have a full basket, or even while I am amending it, but nothing tonight, bloody typical. Will have to phone and cancel in the morning.

WitchesBritchesPumpkinPants · 02/01/2021 00:08

Tesco delivery driver just said to me 'you don't really want these do you?' & laughed. He took my 3 bottles of rum back - must check I was refunded actually. Thank you fir reminding me!

No idea about Sainsbury they lost me as a customer when I couldn't book any slots 🤷🏻‍♀️

planningaheadtoday · 02/01/2021 00:15

My sister put on a single bottle of milk as a place holder and forgot all about the order.

Her lovely (regular) delivery driver called her to ask if she really wanted the milk or a refund. It was Tesco so the milk + delivery charge + pick and pack would have been the best part of £10.

Murinae · 02/01/2021 00:20

I always just check out with some milk or something and it puts on the extra charge but then takes it off when I amend it to more than 40 pounds. Last shop is a good idea. Will do that in future

RightOnTheEdge · 02/01/2021 00:24

They will cancel it if you call them first thing.

I must have forgotten to press "save changes“ once when I was amending because my Tesco driver rang me up and said do really want your order delivering today? It's a packet of biscuits and a bottle of milk?

BashfulClam · 02/01/2021 00:27

@SmidgenofaPigeon you can’t buy alcohol with nectar points (or I wasn’t anyway, something about the term and conditions)

SmidgenofaPigeon · 02/01/2021 00:31

Oh really? I thought you could spend them on whatever but buying alcohol doesn’t give you any points.

I’ll just buy steak then Grin

ktp100 · 02/01/2021 00:39

Ring customer services, OP. They can amend the order.

They won't add you anything else in but they can take the champagne out.

The only time I've ever received a courtesy call about a just champagne order has been in the run up to Christmas.

BashfulClam · 02/01/2021 00:54

@SmidgenofaPigeon yeah I think alcohol
Is considered to be harmful so they won’t reward you. Steak is good!

niki26 · 02/01/2021 00:54

Annoyingly I sort of did this twice whilst pregnant - except what I did was put the champagne in to hold my basket then although I remembered to amend it the night before, I forgot to take the champagne out! I wondered why the cost was so much higher than I expected but just didn't realise!

Now I hold the basket with nappies and formula!
