Escape rooms

Does anyone actually ever fail to escape these games, or are they fixed so everyone wins?

I've done a few and each time we get out with less than 5 mins left.

I'm beginning to wonder if they fix them to get you to succeed, although I do know someone who says they failed one, but that wasnt in this country.

We got out just in time but we had to have clues. It was so hard though.

Without sounding rude, that's good to hear! I thought it was all rigged.
Admittedly at the last one we had a few clues, but it was me and two DC, and youngest was no help what so ever!

Done two and failed both - we were close though.

I think some places are more inclined to give clues than others, some rate their rooms by what percentage of people escape. We've used the same place several times and they would say they are more about having fun than a hardcore puzzling experience. They've also said they're happy to direct customers elsewhere if they're looking for a real purist escape room. This is Escape Hunt in Edinburgh, I'd totally recommend them.

Failed both times I've done them. Different companies

They will typically have a target time that may extend, and the staff will monitor to give hints if required
You can end up failing

We did have an escape room morning at work, and as I was in one of the first groups was able to watch the CCTV of the later groups
One lot succeeded with a time extension, the senior management group failed

I've done 5 escape rooms, failed in 3 and escaped the last 2.

I have gone with the same people the last 3 times I've been so we all have our strengths and weaknesses and sort of know our roles!!

If you liked Escape Hunt, I'd definitely suggest trying Escape The Past - their escape rooms in Edinburgh are excellent and all themed around real Edinburgh history! :)
