Does anyone here make videos for YouTube or similar?

I need to make some instructional craft videos, step by step tutorials basically.

I have an iPhone and I’m wondering what I will need - a tripod obviously, I have some large daylight lamps for photography already, will I need a microphone so speech doesn’t sound awful?

Would really appreciate it if anyone could share the equipment they use, what they use for editing etc!

Some youtubers actually have videos that advise on starting a channel. Just put into a search bar. Most use phones before investing in cameras as they are expensive.

Doh, hadn’t even considered that! Of course there must be - I will have a look!

Not planning to get a camera at this point but figured a microphone might be worthwhile if talking through the video, or I might need to do separate voiceover afterwards if I mess up while filming it 😬

I used an iPad for the last one I made. Edited on iMovie and uploaded fairly smoothly. I’m planning to do the same for the teaching videos I’ll be making for isolating/ quarantining children next term.

If you are using iMovie, you can alter the sound quality quite easily to make the speech clearer. I was really impressed by the difference that 5 minutes of fiddling with it made!

Thanks - that’s really helpful. Will see how it goes with that before buying anything :)
