Did Big Ben Bong??

Had the kids lined up excitedly, ITV news "including Big Ben bongs" according to the TV guide and then....nothing. Newsreader said they were bonging but we could hear anything.

Am I going mad or did Big Ben not bong?

Nope. No bong. If they're still up, bob on a YouTube of last year's fireworks display in London.

they did and there were fireworks. What a shame it. Missed it. I'm sure you'll find it on BBC and/or YouTube. I thought they did a fantastic job this year.

I think it was silent as it was having a little cry about Brexit.

Definitely bonged on bbc, along with fireworks and light/laser show.

Radio 4 had bongs.

You have to watch BBC to get the proper bong and fireworks experience in my opinion.

On itv it was drowned out by hooters and car horns. Friend of mine took a phone video of it on the bbc so I heard it that way just a bit late

Bah humbug to ITV. And then they cut to a Moroccan guy dancing in the street in Edinburgh. Totally bizarre.

HEY HO....Things can only get better (as we used to sing in my uni days).

I heard it was pre recorded as the bell is still being repaired. I had TV on and then my street exploded with fireworks, so I went to watch that instead.

And by 00:02 ITV were showing footage of Covid funerals!

I thought the BBC did much better with their light show, that was touching and clever.

No I was desperately switching channels to see them go over to Big Ben and count down to midnight as they usually do but couldn't find anything very disappointing.

Big Ben chimed at 11pm to mark our exit from the EU (midnight Brussells time). Not sure if it chimed at midnight but there were fireworks and a light show at the O2, Tower Bridge and on Wembley Stadium.

Poor Big Ben. In mothballs for years it feels and suddenly needed twice in one night !
