Red wine open 5 days - would you risk it?

I opened a bottle Boxing Day and only had two glasses from it. Seems a shame to throw it away as was nice. (And I don't have any other wine to have a glass now!)

But is it worth the risk?

What risk? At worst it just won't taste very nice.

modgepodge · 31/12/2020 21:34

Risk? Of what? It might not taste very nice, it won’t do you any harm!

ipodtherforipoor · 31/12/2020 21:35

Freeze it for cooking and drink something nice

ipodtherforipoor · 31/12/2020 21:36

Or do what @Cheesymonster says.... #newbestfriend

anascrecca · 31/12/2020 21:37

The only risk is it might taste a bit stale

openallthetime · 31/12/2020 21:37

you might find it tastes better! Red wine seems to taste good after a day or two. .not sure about 5. why not try?

halcyondays · 31/12/2020 21:38

It’ll be fine!

AnyFucker · 31/12/2020 21:38

Get it down your neck

BettyOBarley · 31/12/2020 21:39

God yeah, go for it! If it takes like vinegar just pour it down the sink.

Betsy86 · 31/12/2020 21:40

@Cheesymonster please can we go for drinks when this is over 🤣🤣🤣🤣😂😂

Aquamarine1029 · 31/12/2020 21:41

Just smell it and you'll know if it has turned. I suspect it has after 5 days.

You’ve just been aerating it.

Has it had a cork in? Will be absolutely fine if so. Otherwise a bit vinegary maybe?

ChristmasStartedAlready · 31/12/2020 21:42

I was really sick once after drinking red wine that had been open a long time (possibly months). Although I had also had a lot of other booze that night! Maybe I'm over cautious.

Freeze it for cooking and drink something nice it was a present and better than I would normally buy.

Seems maybe I'm fussing. Will give it a go!

Drink it

letsdolunch321 · 31/12/2020 21:48

Pop an ice cube in it and drink it

Dailyhandtowelwash · 31/12/2020 21:51

@letsdolunch321

Pop an ice cube in it and drink it
Why????
purplecorkheart · 31/12/2020 21:53

At worst it will taste bad. Red wine in my experience lasts better than white wine.

ChristmasStartedAlready · 31/12/2020 21:54

It has a slight after taste it didn't have before - but that's more like what I'm used to! Perfectly drinkable.

I've heard of people who have a partially drunk bottle of wine but never actually met one. Probably because I like to 'tidy up' and it just seems polite.

ainsisoisje · 31/12/2020 22:04

For gods sake, get it down you. Needs must! Grin

Notapheasantplucker · 31/12/2020 22:09

Well, shit. I never knew wine could go off Blush
Oh well, I'm still alive and kicking! Grin

ChristmasStartedAlready · 31/12/2020 22:27

Well I survived (and no, not a big drinker!)
