Pah! Unfairly disallowed Scrabble words.....

Justiceisblind · 31/12/2020 20:51

Pah! What kind of family bubble New Year’s Eve party is this?
The family have just disallowed using an I to join YET to JET to make YETIJET when everyone knows YETIJET is a generic term for airlines specialising in Nepalese travel.......

Does anyone else have similar injustices to report?

I’m glad I’m not playing with you. It sounds tedious.

Justiceisblind · 31/12/2020 21:01

Gosh yes me too!

OP posts:
dementedma · 31/12/2020 21:02

Very unfair. As an independent I decree Yetijet acceptable!

TroysMammy · 31/12/2020 21:04

I'm sure my online scrabble didn't allow June but allowed April. I might be wrong though.

Justiceisblind · 31/12/2020 21:05

Well yeah!

At the risk of incurring more disapproval from “her upthread”, where do you stand on VIXENLY? As in like how a vixen would do something?

OP posts:
lotusbell · 31/12/2020 21:05

Sorry, totally misread this as 'swallowed Scrabble tiles'!

GrettaGreen · 31/12/2020 21:05

At least you can entertain yourself Justice without having to resort to being rude to internet strangers Wink

I've been unfairly barred from Scrabble for using my own dictionary once too often! We like Ticket To Ride at the moment instead.

Justiceisblind · 31/12/2020 21:07

“swallowed Scrabble tiles'!”

I need a glass of tawny port and then we need to have a serious discussion about that.....

OP posts:
Justiceisblind · 31/12/2020 21:08

“Ticket To Ride”

Hmmmm, what newfangled thing is that?

OP posts:
bluerad · 31/12/2020 21:20

Not sure about yetijet tbh. But vixenly is fine in my book. I had clumpier yesterday which I thought was fine but others disagreed!

Justiceisblind · 31/12/2020 21:22

‘I had clumpier yesterday”

I read that as an illness that the others spotted.....

OP posts:
bluerad · 31/12/2020 21:30

Ha ha, lumpier would be a better description since I've eaten my body weight in chocolate recently. Are you allowed to check words in the dictionary before putting them on the board?

TheChippendenSpook · 31/12/2020 21:30

When me and my eldest play scrabble now, anything goes! Even made up words, it's much more fun Smile

Justiceisblind · 31/12/2020 21:34

Not in my house. Yours?

But my house is weird because everyone but me says the middle square is not a double word score.

wanderings · 31/12/2020 21:55

Try "cupboardy", it means, er, cupboard-like. (Little Britain)

Is "pah" a disallowed Scrabble word?

Justiceisblind · 31/12/2020 21:58

Pah! 😀

They also disallowed “OGAPE”. In my defence O [ ]APE was already there.

OP posts:
bluerad · 31/12/2020 21:58

Of course the middle square is a double.

We are allowed to check words in the dictionary but not go looking for words iyswim

Eckhart · 31/12/2020 21:58

Zen is not allowed on Wordfeud, which makes me have a very non-zen style reaction which usually involves a swearword.

citycitycity · 31/12/2020 22:01

DD insisted on German words recently because they’re in the dictionary - the German dictionary - we are not German...

NachoNachoMan · 31/12/2020 22:04

So mean.

I hope the person who didn't allow you gets I, G, N & T and is now sulking about not not being able to spell yetijetting.

Elisheva · 31/12/2020 22:06

I wasn’t allowed yeet, which is not a word in my own vocabulary, but one which my children employ frequently. It’s not my fault that the dictionary is not up to date with yoof speak 😡

Justiceisblind · 31/12/2020 22:08

Smile it’s a cruel game.

The kids keep telling me not to help them.

NachoNachoMan · 31/12/2020 22:09

@Justiceisblind are you helping them, helping them, or helping them as in making it easier for you on your next turn?

DramaAlpaca · 31/12/2020 22:10

This is why Scrabble is known as Squabble in our house Grin

WitchesBritchesPumpkinPants · 31/12/2020 22:10
