So as per the normal post Christmas come down my house has turned into an absolute shit tip.

I seem to have lost my house mojo!

I have 8 loads of washing, the living room needs cleaning from top to bottom, the kids rooms are absolutely awful full of crap and new toys not one thing has been put away, all the Christmas dining plates and cutlery needs putting away, the kitchen needs a scrub! The bathrooms aren’t too bad but the floors could do with a wash and I said to Dh I wanted to descale the shower and taps but haven’t.

I’m sat at the dining table shaking my head is absolute horror and disgust.

So first thing a load of washing on?? Then what? Where do I start??

Start at the top and work your way down.

How old are the kids? Give them tasks.

Make a bag for the charity shop while you're going along and be brutal.

Find a 'home' for everything - you all need to be in the mindset of returning the thing to it's home once it's finished with.

I sympathise by the way. I often say I need a week without the toddler and baby to be able to get on top of stuff.Blush

Put some washing on. Then stick some music on, set a time for 20 mins and see how far you can get. I’d be tempted to say get all the Christmas dishes away to start with so you’ve got something achieved to feel pleased about.

The idea I saw online is that you take a ten minute break after the 20 minute timer goes off and repeat as necessary but I often find I get so much done in the 20 mins I’m motivated to continue.

I always start with the kitchen because I hate that job. Give everyone else a job and set a timer. I find im more effective against the clock, left to my own devices I’ll procrastinate all day. Good luck

Black bags- bag up any rubbish then put it outside
First load of rubbish
Sweep/mop the floor
Take out washing
Put away the things that aren’t rubbish
Second load of washing
Cup of tea
Clean surfaces
Take out washing etc
Good luck!

A bit of inspiration for you - I felt like this yesterday morning. I was miserable and thoroughly fed up with the mess and disorganisation.

The first step is the hardest. I started by wandering around with 2 bin bags, one for rubbish, one recycling. Seeing the difference it made gave me the oomph needed and I kept going all day. I got everything tidied away, rubbish removed, kitchen & bathrooms cleaned and hoovering done. I sent dh out to get fish & chips to celebrate Grin

All I have to do today is mop everywhere and do more washing. Tomorrow I'll strip all the beds and Saturday I'll be taking down the xmas decs. It feels great to have a plan.

Come back later and let us know how you have got on Smile
