Why aren't my babies ever quiet??

All night they cry or squeal or squeak or shout. Sometimes it'll be a really big shout and I'll hop put of bed and they'll shut up and then in the dark I don't even know who did it. I find it really hard to relax at night waiting for the next noise, will it be a sleep cry or a wake up cry. Go to have sex and constantly put off by the intermittent noises, do I need to go see to them, are they ok? I find it really hard to sleep til 2ish because that's when they start to sleep deeper and shut up but that means my body clock is shot.

Why won't they shut up? They're not even a-bloody-wake

How old are they?

grey12 · 31/12/2020 03:48

Get a video monitor to check on them

Mintjulia · 31/12/2020 04:08

That's normal. My dc mumbled and fidgeted for the first two hours of sleep.

I learnt to sleep through all but a determined yowl.

Set up two? I don't know how people co sleep. My son never stops moving and will pat my face in his sleep.

WankPuffins · 31/12/2020 12:45

@oldandtiredandold that's me Grin

My four month old sleeps with me and will only sleep soundly if our faces are touching. If not, she wriggles and bats me in her sleep all bloody night.

My other two were the same.

The problem is the screams individually don't last. So scream, your sit up, look at monitors. Two stationary babies. Who screamed?? No idea. All calm. Lie down. Scream. Sit up, look at monitors.... All is calm..... Lie down. Doze off. Waaagghhhhhhhhhhhhhh. Shit. Sir up, look at monitors, no one is bloody awake!!!!

I have the monitor for my DDs room on top of the wardrobe so I can see both beds.

Maybe a white noise machine may make them quieter?... I never used them but maybe it could work

SleepingStandingUp · 31/12/2020 15:43

It's a tiny room, there isn't anywhere I can put it that covers both beds. But even if it did, by the time i look is all quiet. It's like a constant stream of single birthdays

Can you set the monitor so the sensitivity is lower? So they need to be crying longer for it to pick it up.

Sillybilly35 · 31/12/2020 20:57

My 2.5 year old does this still every so often. Just a random scream/cry/whinge then I look at the monitor and he's fast asleep. He used to do it every night but it's not has much now.

SleepingStandingUp · 01/01/2021 01:20

When we got them home initially I couldn't believe how noisy them were. DS was in hospital for 13 weeks and never really made much sound so it was a real eye opener but I honestly thought twin2 especially would have given it up by now.

I've actually turned the monitor off. It's a small 3 bed, our doors are literally at right angles to each other, they're on the wall art the bottom of my bed. I feel awful but I would definitely hear a proper cry or scream. Which has just started so ...
