Look at this astrological newsletter I received at the end of 2019

I'm on the fence in regard to the authenticity of astrology, but I take an interest [largely so that I can scoff at how ridiculous it all is].

So I do follow my horoscope on a few select sites and I do get a newsletter from one site. On a whim I looked back at the email newsletter I received last December 31st. This is a general overview of the coming year for all signs, not just for one particular sign. Here it is:

'The current quality of time

Some myths and fairy tales tell of a hero's journey during which someone has to face challenging trials, cross unknown seas or survive dangerous encounters with powers of the underworld. Usually, all ends well, and the hero returns home with a valuable gift, a magical object, or blessed wisdom. The astrological constellations in January and throughout 2020 contain all the ingredients for such a story. The quality of time is extraordinary in its intensity. It is hard to believe that we will all suddenly become heroes and heroines. In the coming months, however, we will certainly bear witness to profound changes in social life.

The dominant constellation is the conjunction of Saturn and Pluto in Capricorn, which will be exact on January 12. Now it will become abundantly clear which foundations in our society have become too fragile to offer reliable stability. Corrections are inevitable. Where these are denied, fierce confrontations are to be expected. Thus for some time, your personal path could lead you through challenging terrain where every step counts, just as the heroine and the hero must experience on their journey. Your room for manoeuvre may be limited, as many things are now subject to the laws of necessity for some time to come.

On January 10, the conjunction of Saturn and Pluto is heralded by the Full Moon on the Cancer-Capricorn axis, with a penumbral lunar eclipse. The Cancer Moon draws our attention to the fact that social structures, rules and powers only make sense if they serve the people. On January 13, the Sun will be directly aligned with the conjunction of the two planets at 23° Capricorn. During this time, light and shadow may struggle intensely for sovereignty. It is a time of initiation, in which the inner light can clearly show itself - a first climax in a year that will offer us still some further ingredients of a genuine hero's journey.

During the remaining days of January, we can hardly expect any relaxation, but at least a relief from the feeling of paralysis. On January 20, the Sun enters Aquarius and subsequently forms a square with Uranus in Taurus on January 23. After the experience of the leaden heaviness of the previous days, creative and freedom-loving forces now become active again, particularly at the time of the New Moon in Aquarius on January 24.

It is very likely that the events of this time will be felt by people of all signs of the zodiac. It is a time of collective upheaval, and the effects can be seen in many areas of life. Those who have the Sun, Ascendant or other planets in the last 10 degrees of the cardinal zodiac signs of Capricorn, Cancer, Aries and Libra will be even more involved. They will experience the events more intensely in the personal field.

Be aware that with this quality of time, authentic action can have effects in the collective field. Be courageous and do not let yourself be discouraged. The further constellations during the year 2020 offer great opportunities for sustainable and beneficial changes, especially for the cardinal signs of the zodiac mentioned above.'

What do you reckon, MN?

Could apply to any year. We pick out the things we want to see, and ignore the stuff that doesn't fit into our retrofitting Smile

Twaddle.

Mummydaydreams · 30/12/2020 22:32

I obviously don't think astrology is real but please can you post what's going to happen in 2021 when you get the newsletter tomorrow as I am hoping it will say we will have an amazing year

Well, many astrologers are saying a new age of Aquarius has started with the last conjunction a few days ago, which augurs well for 2021.

ssd · 30/12/2020 22:35

Christ I couldn't make out a word of that

ssd · 30/12/2020 22:36

Does anyone get Old Moore's Almanac? What did that predict for 2020?

No idea what any of that means and it’s all about January anyway.

This ^^

I used to read the horoscopes for a laugh but I read all of them, not just mine, and I could apply every single one to some aspect of my life.
Personally I think it’s a load of old bollocks. 🤷‍♀️

Justgivemewine · 30/12/2020 22:40

@ssd

Christ I couldn't make out a word of that
Yep, I switched off at “some myths and fairy tales” 🙄
TildaKauskumholm · 30/12/2020 22:47

Rubbish, as with most horoscope type stuff. Anyone could make it apply to anything.

MillieVanilla · 30/12/2020 22:48

I used to think all of it was crap. Especially psychics.
For my old job in PR,I would be sent to all sorts of things, and one was a shopping mall in the south east who had a special "circus" theme for a month. Standard dip between summer and Christmas filler to attract people into the mall. One of the things they asked me to cover for the online magazine was this supposed renowned psychic. I remember telling DP what a load of old flannel I thought it was but a job was a job so off I went.
She was very nice, was pretty standard stuff, I smiled politely, all done and I asked some questions for the online thing.
Then the photographer cane over to get some pics, but said where we were sitting wasn't showing the attractions enough and could we stand up near a mezzanine bit.
As we did, she flips my hair and says "och, girlie, when you going to sort out that mop". She could not have sounded more like my gran if she tried. I must have looked shocked and she said "that's an important person isn't it?"
I agreed, but said, my gran says that all the time but she's still with us.
The psychic didn't really say much.
I rang my gran when I got in but no answer so assumed she was out (nothing unusual there).
On Boxing Day, months after, I got a message request from a family member on Facebook. I am n/c with all of them (accept my gran) so thought that was weird.

Family member proceeds to admit my gran died, months before. In the autumn. And no one had had the decency to contact me until Christmas (typical narc bastard behaviour designed to deliberately cause me Maximum upset)
So now, I'm kind of a bit more open to it. I feel like she was letting me know. She always said she would leave a sign of able bless her.
Cannot to this day explain how a very English, young female with no accent could've sounded like my 80 odd year old, Scottish gran. Who I didn't know had passed away. Who has a different surname and lived miles up the country.

Merename · 30/12/2020 22:53

I think that’s fascinating, lots in there that could be applied to everything, but not all of it I think.

@MillieVanilla - wow, that’s an incredible story! I’m sorry for your loss Flowers

trollopolis · 31/12/2020 07:30

I don't remember what was happening in January, and I that's where this prediction is centred.

I wonder if it's all about January because they don't expect people to keep/remember what they said for very long

There's nothing about the actual tipping points of the pandemic on or around the dates they actually occurred, not much sign of 'freedom loving forces' making much headway this year.

Unless of course this is another Brexit thread and the creative challenge of the struggle to deal is what was meant? What star signs were the negotiators? Capricorn, Cancer, Aries and Libra?

It's OK, she was a formidable lady, 6 years on I still miss her. The older I get the more I look like her too so she's always with me

something2say · 31/12/2020 08:57

Astrology has been foreseeing this for ages. I do hope what they say is true; that social structures that are old and outdated need to die (can't remember the actual phrase, but essentially big business and war mongers) and the future looks like diversity and unity.

klaerntrapetor · 31/12/2020 12:28

Vague Bull that can be applied to anything.

TheRogueApostrophe · 31/12/2020 13:44

Millievanilla that is an amazing story. There are definitely things that can't easily be explained and if this was your grandma sending a message (though she could have been a bit less vague 😂), then how lovely that is.

Wrt the op...sorry, it meant absolutely nothing to me. Just a load of garbled nonsense.

Literally every time I would see her she moaned about my hair. She had very tidy set hair all her life, every five minutes having it just so at the hair dresser. Me? Lazy beggar. Have had hair passed by shoulders forever, never really do more than stick a brush through. It was pure her. Although, her and her hair do did come in handy as since I've started colouring mine due to grey, I have the same colour she always had, because I knew it would suit me the same way. Although I do my own.
