Im going to have to schlep back to Morrissons arent I? I bought a lovely pair of elastic waist thick trews for myself today. Not very fashionable but I figured they’d be great for going to work in at 630am when no one is around. I heard the alarm go off but thought it was for someone else and i dragged my trolley home. I was just about to wash them when i realised the tag is still on. I could cry! Its freezing and Im trying to avoid people.

Is it ink filled? If not then pliers should be able to do the job.

Gilead · 30/12/2020 15:37

There are tutorials on YouTube!

BluTangClan · 30/12/2020 15:38

Try a spoon to lever it off.

KnitsAndGiggles · 30/12/2020 15:40

You can either use a lighter or a knife to open it - lots of tutorials on YouTube and it's surprisingly easy to do

Sn0tnose · 30/12/2020 15:40

Is it one of the ones with a piece of plastic one side and a silver pin the other side? If so, they’re magnetic.

If not, have a look on You Tube.

Pliers, as recommended to DH by Superdry customer services when a hoodie he received still had it on. They didn't have anymore in stock so told him this would be the easiest way. Took him about 2 seconds.

Just smash the plastic bit with a hammer. Or stand on it.

NonyaBizniz · 30/12/2020 16:06

How do you all know how to rip the security tag off clothes?

TheWristBoundLatexBitch · 30/12/2020 16:08

Tesco do this to me all the time, and the alarm never goes off on the way out either (does on the way in!!).

You need two forks.

sadonfriday · 30/12/2020 16:24

Two forks does it

Bargebill19 · 30/12/2020 16:27

Magnets did it one of these for us.

Hoppinggreen · 30/12/2020 16:28

Pliers and/or hacksaw

Because this happens all the time and when you whinge about it to friends they all seem to know multiple techniques from YouTube. After a couple of incidents like that, you become the friend recommending YouTube workarounds yourself, and so it goes on.

If you have competent shop cashiers where you live, who always take the security widgets off, thank your lucky stars.

MaelyssQ · 30/12/2020 16:32

Wow are you all experienced shoplifters to know how to do this? Grin

Cocolapew · 30/12/2020 16:33

I've got the dye ones off with pliers before.

ColourHex · 30/12/2020 16:35

I had one that wouldn't come off with forks/pliers etc so checked YouTube and found a video about using a lighter - can't remember the exact details but you just burn the little bump for a few seconds. Worked really well, just fell apart and didn't damage the material like pulling it can

Bargebill19 · 30/12/2020 16:49

@MaelyssQ

Was a retail manager!

B1rdinthebush · 30/12/2020 19:20

This happened to me once and I tried pliers, two forks and a hammer. In the end holding a lighter to it worked, just check YouTube for the exact method.
