Hi,

My DH doesn't understand why I want to keep my wedding dress but it's just something I want to do.

It got my wondering if other people kept there's and what they did with it

In my wardrobe. I only got married 2 years ago though. I want to keep it as its a Disney Princess dress! Its a beautiful so am hoping my dd will want to do something with it. It desperately needs dry cleaning as the bottom is filthy! I was sad that my mum threw her one out when I was younger as I would have loved to have worn it.

Mine is in a box under the bed (cleaned and in acid free tissue etc).
I wasn’t going to keep it but DH insisted as he’s soppier than me. I’m glad I did though as I unexpectedly had a daughter and would like her to have it. Not to wear, as I’m sure she won’t want to, but perhaps she might use a bit of the fabric in her own.

Mine is folded into a box under my bed. I keep it for sentimental reasons, when my boys grow up I might have it made into baby clothes for their children.

Wondering if I could have mine dyed to wear again but really can’t think of anywhere I’d ever need a full length dress for.

I LOVE the idea of wearing it for anniversaries - my husband would absolutely adore that. I only got married this year though and I think I’d still need to shed a stone to fit back into it Blush

I’ll probably keep it then decide to sell it or donate it when it becomes unfashionable and no one wants it Grin

I kept mine. I haven't even had it dry cleaned and I got married on the street in front of the Bellagio fountains in Vegas. Then we walked the strip for a few hours stopping in different hotels for food and drink so it was filthy! Really need to get it cleaned 😬

Sold a few months after wedding, had paid £1,200 for it, got £600 back on eBay

Ooh is it an Alfreds one? Which princess did you go for? I wish I'd bought one of their dresses!

Kept it for a few years until we were decluttering to move when I took it to the charity shop. We both kept other bits and pieces that we wore that day (garter, confetti, underwear, jewellery)

Dinosauraddict · 30/12/2020 07:09

In a bespoke dress box with special paper to stop it going yellow or anything and it's stored on the top shelf in our dressing room.

Donated mine.

DM still has her wedding dress from the 60s, it's a short dress in plain silk with crocheted collar and cuffs, with a matching length crocheted waistcoat. It's gorgeous but tiny, think DM was a size 8 or 10 then.

HappySpade · 30/12/2020 07:12

In DM's wardrobe for 13 years. Had the train made into DD's christening gown. DCs likes to dress up in it when we visit DM.

Katkincake · 30/12/2020 07:16

Mine is hung up in the spare room. I planned to donate it to this charity but want to try it on one last time before I do and need to shed about 1.5 stone first - it’s a good diet motivator Grin www.giftofawedding.org/donate-a-dress

I sold mine through a specialist dress agency who deal with second hand wedding gowns. I also had a velvet cloak for my wedding I sold too. I was pleased they got a second outing - and the lady who sold them told me how much the new brides loved them and how lovely they looked in their photos which was nice.

Trollsinthedungeon · 30/12/2020 07:23

Sold it and bought a dog with the money.
