Decent alcohol free "celebration drink"

I'd like to buy a friend a lovely drink that says "happy big birthday", but she's currently pregnant so it needs to be alcohol free. She's said she'll miss being able to drink champagne, so I'm after something alcohol free that tastes amazing, indulgent and celebratory, please let me have your ideas!

I really like freixenet 0.0 ( found Nosecco to sweet for my tatse) and Lyres London spirit - AF gin. Both very nice

RockawayBeach · 29/12/2020 17:51

I personally like the Tesco low alcohol sparkling wine, tastes most like wine than I've tried before. Also enjoy seedlip - tastes nothing like gin but feels like a grown up drink when mixed with tonic... iykwim

Speaking as someone who doesn't drink alcohol (or very rarely does), my favourite indulgent celebration drink would either be high quality latte coffee or thick, creamy hot chocolate. I'm guessing that's not what you're looking for though?

From the point of view of a non-drinker, there is no pull towards "pretend" alcoholic drinks. There are so many more delicious drinks that are nothing to do with alcohol that there is no need to pretend. A fabulous smoothy for example (ideally freshly made from raw ingredients rather than bought). And you cannot beat buying 8 juicy oranges, juicing then directly into a glass and drinking immediately. There's no need to pretend I'm drinking wine or champagne or beer or whatever.

I love asdas Nosecco
They also do non alcoholic grapefruit gin which is amazing too.

Drbrowns · 29/12/2020 18:22

I’m not sure if they do it anymore, but Lidl used to do a lovely orange and cranberry fizz at this time of the year. It was gorgeous chilled And served in a champagne glass.

This is it

Poppins2016 · 29/12/2020 18:27

Great ideas here, I love the sound of the cranberry and orange fizz (@Drbrowns it sounds delicious, might get some just for me)!

@FATEdestiny thank you for pointing out what I should have mentioned... it doesn't have to be an obvious "alcohol replacement", just more of a "something delicious that isn't water". I personally love Appletiser (for example) but that doesn't seem quite special enough...

I like Belle & Co. had a bottle of the rose fizz for Christmas Day and my husband also enjoyed it.

Fozzleyplum · 29/12/2020 18:30

M&S Fizzero is the best alternative to champagne that I have tried. I think the white is nicer than the rose.

Teenagetrials · 29/12/2020 18:31

Seedlip (and tonic!)

theskyispurple · 29/12/2020 18:33

Belle and co Bees Knees - lovely bubbly
Add a bottle of pomegranate juice and a pack of pomegranate seeds to your pressie, it is the most healthy lovely refreshing but special drink.
Champagne glass, spoon full of seeds, slug of juice , too with chilled bees knees!

HandlebarLadyTash · 29/12/2020 18:33

Any fancy tonic with a slice of lemon makes me happy Fevertree does a decent selection of flavours if needed

MissKittyFantastico84 · 29/12/2020 18:34

Bit swanky, but Fortnum and Masons do a lovely sparkling tea in celebration popping bottles. Not too sweet and a nice flavour. But as I said - bit swanky!!! Grin

biteysaurus · 29/12/2020 18:40

I got a bottle of 'Nosecco' in for Christmas and it was lovely.

LongIslandIcedT · 29/12/2020 18:43

I love the Lidl fruit presse, blood orange is my favourite but the apple is nice too.

Gotthetshirt23 · 29/12/2020 18:43

I found nonsecco to be more like Asti than Prosecco ?
I quite like shloer for nice tasting as cheap and cheerful .

AwkwardSquad · 29/12/2020 18:44

Fancy tonics are my preference, too - Fevertree and Fentimans in particular. Just tried a lovely elderflower and rose tonic by Fentimans, tastes very celebratory!

nocoolnamesleft · 29/12/2020 18:51

I really enjoy some of the Bottlegreen presses. The pomegranate and elderflower one is particularly nice. Not sure if that's special enough?

Sober4Summer20 · 29/12/2020 19:02

Asda's Nosecco is a lovely drink.
